Key Takeaways- DICE added a new map called "Capstone" to the playtest.
- Leaked footage shows a chopper takedown and gameplay featuring the new map and vehicles.
- The pre-alpha gameplay footage reveals improved gunplay and a cleaner UI.
While DICE has shared bits and info about the new Battlefield game, there’s not a lot of gameplay to accompany it. However, thanks to leaks from the ongoing Battlefield Labs playtest, we have an early idea of how the game will look and play.
In the latest playtest update by DICE, the studio added a new map called “Capstone” that participants can test out. As one might expect, people in the private test started leaking stuff the moment they could. This time, we see our first look at a chopper taken down in the new Battlefield game, as well as a good amount of gameplay featuring the new map, vehicles, and more.

The footage above, which has a filter on (we explained why in a previous article), shows us our first look at a chopper taken down in the new Battlefield game. Using an RPG, the player takes aim and takes down a chopper.
Not a fan of filters? Yeah, we aren’t too. Thankfully, more gameplay has surfaced where we can check out the in-development game’s visuals. Just remember: this is a pre-alpha build, and graphics, assets, sound work and more will change or be improved before the game’s retail release.
In the video above leaked by a tester who didn’t give a crap whether they get pulled from the test or not, we see the new map, and lots of raw gameplay. There’s footage featuring vehicle gameplay, some infantry action and even a melee knife kill! Even in its pre-alpha phase, I have to admit, the game is looking good. The core gunplay seems to have been nailed down, and everything looks like how a Battlefield game should look.
One interesting change DICE made is making the UI (user interface) look a lot less crowded and cleaner overall. This is another example of how we shouldn’t judge a game based on early, unofficial gameplay and screenshots.
As we get near June, we’re hoping EA has a showcase planned for some of its upcoming games to coincide with Summer Game Fest. Perhaps we’ll have a release date for the new Battlefield game then? Or maybe at least an idea of when the Battlefield Labs playtest will be opened up again to wider reach. Once we know more, expect it here on MP1st.

While nothing has been announced by Electronic Arts, assuming the new Battlefield game currently in development will feature a Battle Pass of some sort seems like a safe bet.
