Intel's CPU's are also leading the market for less power consumption=less=better performance. As far as the OS I would definitely go with 7, if it was available yet, but if you look closer at the Vista OS, it comes with a coupon for a free upgrade to 7.

And I tried overclocking my GPU but I'm not sure exactly how to use the programs safely. lolz the first time I overclocked it I started getting these weird green lines on my screen (barely noticeable). The weird thing was as soon as I clicked restart and my icons disappeared, the lines vanished. I have both Rivatuner and ATITools. Can anybody help me with OC'ing?

Was it because it was an AMD CPU and mobo? I don't know, but that is the taste it left in my mouth so I went back to intel and have had no problems. And I don't build crappy machines.. for that machine I went top of the line.. but I can't remember the specs now.. all I can say is that i've been much happier with intel and nvidia than amd and ati.
That is my own personal experience and I understand that, so make of it what you will.

It's not a very good one lol that's why I want to overclock it. It's a Dell Pentium 4 (1.7Ghz), 512mb of RAM, 150Gb HDD and a 256mb Ati Radeon 9700 Pro graphics card
