programs for teamp reading?

I just want to know what program you guys use to check your hardware temperature, as well as a program to make your cpu runs at its max.

I would like to know what kind of temp I get on my new PC.

I just use the sidebar gadget "All CPU Meter" for my CPU temps, and "GPU Observer" for my GPU temps. You will need to download Core Temp along with those gadgets for them to read temps. For stress testing, use Prime95.

Each one is different. Most of the newer ones like my 6870 can handle up to 100C without frying, but AMD recommends keeping it below 90C. My card has never seen temps above 78C.

I ask because I have 470's which supposedly run very hot. When I first loaded the gauge it was reading 47 c and now it's up to 58 c. Just wondering how far I can go before it reaches a damaging temp. Here in L.A. it can get over 100 F easy and we don't have AC.

With 58 c you are ok and even if you go up to 70 you still gonna be fine.

I've actually seen 470's running at 80C to 90C when gaming, so I think you're doing pretty good.

If i was you i would put my computer next to a window and use a fan(fresh air).

The programs I like to have handy are, CPU-Z: it lets you know everything about your CPU like temp and voltage plus more (very nice if your over clocking), GPU-Z: similar to CPU-Z only for your GPUs, Real Temp: lets you know what your cores are running at temp wise. As far as temps, well lets just say no more 70* C+ for this guy! Got my water block installed on my first 570! Gaming that card never breaks 43*C.

cant seem to get the gpu observer working. i got the latest (3.7), but my 6870 wont show up.

Really? Hmm. Mine doesn't say 6870..it reads it as a 6000 series card, which it is, but it just doesn't say 6870.

So it's just not showing anything at all?
