I'm not saying he should get a 1 TB SSD, I'm just saying, if he's going to throw that much money out to a high-end CPU and two high-end GPU's, he might as well throw out an extra $250 on a 60 GB SSD to load his OS and programs on to so that he's not bottle-necking himself with a 7200 RPM HDD.
Side note: I did some research and I was wrong before by saying that the Intel Q6600 in my mother-in-laws desktop out performs the AMD 9850 Black that I have in my desktop at home. The Q6600 has a factory clock speed of just 2.4 Ghz per core/9850 2.5 Ghz (I've got mine stably OC'd at 3.0 Ghz per core). The Q6600 uses a 1066 Mhz FSB/9850 uses 4000 Mhz HyperTransport. (This is the only edge the Q6600 has) Q6600 has a 8 Mb L2 cache and no L3/9850 has 2 Mb L2 and L3 cache.
The biggest difference between the two is OC'ing capabilities. The Q6600 uses a very low clock multiplier at the stock speeds (6x multiplier I believe), making it very easy to OC without having to raise your core voltage by much. Unfortunately the computer the Q6600 is in is a Dell, which means BIOS is locked down like Ft. Knox. If I threw in an after-market MoBo I could do a lot with this thing. Either way, my biggest hindrance with playing L4D2 on here still remains at the crappy GeForce 8300 GS GPU. I did manage to get it playing smoothly today, but only at the lowest video settings and a 800x600 resolution, that just terribly takes away from the entire gaming experience. I guess I'll probably be waiting until I return to my house and am able to play on my desktop, which won't be until Nov 27th. *Sigh*
