From what I've read Win 7 runs with less resources and runs very smoothly. Not sure if those are the only differences however. Here are 4 reportedly major differences:

It's ok.. I know you can do that stuff, and how to do it, but using up resources to run 3rd party stuff isn't usually an option if you want a fast, responsive computer. Having those things built into Win 7 as standard is a big improvement.

I told you you didn't have to post.. but maybe someone else can benefit from whatever you say. :)

If you are trying to defend Vista you don't have to defend it to me, It's been fine, however Win 7 is suppose to be better and just about everything I've read about it has universally agreed with that sentiment. ;)

Yeah.. ok just wasn't sure because I was going to say you are preaching to the choir as I've had no problems with Vista.. however an OS that runs leaner and meaner is appealing to me.

Go with Windows 7! and get Intel! I had AMD but Intel is more stable and very powerful.

By the way i still have XP and i still love it, no need to upgrade at the moment and spend more money, we have a laptop with Vista and i prefer XP :icon_shy:

I'm running an AMD rig right now and I've got my 9850 Black edition OC'd to 3 Ghz stable, but honestly, Intel CPU's are leading the market with performance and are more solid chips when it comes to OC'ing (with a good mobo of course). Intel's CPU's are also leading the market for less power consumption=less=better performance. As far as the OS I would definitely go with 7, if it was available yet, but if you look closer at the Vista OS, it comes with a coupon for a free upgrade to 7.

From what I've read Win 7 runs with less resources and runs very smoothly. Not sure if those are the only differences however. Here are 4 reportedly major differences:

ive had windows 7 rtm before, it ran sooooooo much better than vista. but i was stupid and installed something that would activate (as in it would crack it so it wouldn't notice i didn't buy it). and my computer crashed, silly me.

and guys, when you buy windows vista from june of 09 to january of '10 you get a free upgrade to windows 7

scroll down to where it talks about windows vista
