I've heard of pc shops charging $50 just to open the case and try to diagnose something at the least.

All you want to do is test it, as long as you're not running it, its fine. Just connect the 2v2, and it it even comes up, immediately power it down.

Yep, most of them do. Especially like Best buy, I know someone that went there, and bestbuy charged $50 to take a look at it + $50 for the technician's time... And they didn't fix the problem..

Sometimes measuring the bottleneck can be interpreted in so many ways. The only Thing ATI can render better then Nvidia is BSoD.

    YAY!!!! THE PSU WORKS!!!!

... :icon_waterworks: the motherboard is fried.

So i brought my PC to a local PC shop, and they're going to look to see if the CPU, GPU and RAM still works. I hope those parts are safe.

    Re: Help! PC went kaput!

    OK! got some news!

So my motherboard is "working". I dont know how they tested it, but supposedly it works fine, without any components. As soon as you add a component to it, it wont open. the guy said it may be something with the bios, but that is irreversible, since he can't get my PC to work.

All the other components work. So that is great news. ill be getting the same one again (GIGABYTE has a 3-year warranty, right?). http://ca.gigabyte.com/products/product ... x?pid=3852

thought so but thats with mobos if they die its mostly the bios chip which some can have replaced but its easier to have them do an exchange and not repair.

Btw. Local shops are cool. It only cost me 30$ to give it a check-up.

OK! i will be sending my mobo to Gigabyte on Monday. my RMA request was accepted. yay! sadly, it has to go to California, and i live near Montreal, so that's about a week to get there, and they say they might spend 2 weeks on it (??????? why 2 weeks, idk. i hope they just decide to send a new one) and then a week to get back.

    a whole month.... :icon_waterworks: :icon_waterworks: :icon_waterworks: :icon_waterworks: :icon_waterworks: :icon_waterworks: :icon_waterworks: :icon_waterworks: :icon_waterworks:
