I've been planning a few upgrades for the future (new mobo, cpu and ddr3) the problem is I want a mobo that I will be able to keep in my PC for a long time without having compatablitily issues with furture tech, but the gaming boards I've been looking at ( EVGA Classified ) are out of my price range as of right now so I was thinking about just upgrading my current mobo to it's max, I have a Gigabyte M68M_S2P rev. 2.3 mobo with a 3.2ghz X2 260 and 4 gigs of ddr2 (they are 2 dif types because I'm a moron one is pc5300 the other stick is pc6400) it will hold up to 8gb of 1066. On medium/high settings in BFBC2 i get about 25 to 30 fps on the atacama server and I'm trying to prepare for BF3 the best I can. Any input would be awesome, thanks for you time guys, Happy Gaming!

You don't need a gaming board for good performance. I have a simple $100 MSI board that's crossfire capable and it works just fine for me.

I've looked around on google and asked on TechGage and I've been told that even though my PCIe slots are x16 and x4, the framerate difference between that and x16 x16 would only be about 8%-10%. Very minimal.

true if its still running with one @x16 but if both are at @x8 the lose is more than X16/X8 or x16/x16

both of those items bought separately total $305 so yeah that's a really good deal. Got USB3 too. that's a plus. As for the PCIe I looked up the specs on newegg and it says this:

2 x PCIe 2.0 x16 support ATI CrossFireX Technology (blue @ x16 mode,gray @ x4 mode)

Exactly like mine, lol.

Also, since it's an AMD motherboard, it's not going to natively support SLI (for NVIDIA cards). It will, however, support CrossfireX (for AMD cards). You'll have to get something called SLIpatch to SLI NVIDIA cards on that board most likely..idk much about the patch so you'd have to ask someone else.

I just built a system a few months ago and used these parts from tigerdirect.

motherboard= MSI 870A-G54 Motherboard - AMD 870, Socket AM3, LAN, USB, DDR3, ATX -----$99

CPU= AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition AM3 CPU HDZ965FBGMBOX - 3.40GHz, Socket AM3, 6MB Cache, 2000MHz (4000 MT/s) FSB, Retail, Processor with Fan-------$139

Video Card= XFX Radeon HD 6850 Video Card - 1024MB, GDDR5, PCIe, mini-Display Port, HDMI, Dual DVI,----$145

I can run BC2 at 60 FPS steady, never has dropped below 58 FPS and I can run this game with settings at max with no issues at all. Only some stuff does not really need to be set to HIGH I run most stuff at MEDIUM. And I can run the AA at full and AF at highest settings also without blinking and eye still maintaining 60 FPS, I think up to 8X for AA and AF at 16X but running both at 4X now, its those settings I like the best so far.

This cpu is nice and easy powerful but i myself would go with the 1090t myself if you plan on doing some high OCing for a little better stability versus the 1100.

so you have 1090T 3.2 GHZ but the first 3 cores clock up to 3.6
Then you have 1100T 3.3 GHZ that clocks up to 3.7 is .1 GHZ that big of a deal

i have built a few 1090T gaming rigs and i can say i OC them above 4.0 GHZ and then had Turbo cores get up to 4.4 GHZ all on stock cooling.. now the result of 1100t you prob would get same results.

really if your wanting to build a new rig waiting for bulldozer to come out. the 990 chipset were designed for those cores not for the am3's they have now. though that ASUS board does have UEFI and official SLI support.

as far as the difference of 2 pci express cards 1 x16 or 2x16 or 2 x8 honestly you will get better performance to buy 1 great card and then when it gets shitty buy a new one and don't sli or crossfire it. i have a 6870 and love it to death, before that had nvidia 8800 GTS for like 4-5 years and loved the crap out of it.

also like Boo_ya said when you run the game on HIGH it looks crappy, but when you run it on medium its alot smoother i think its BFBC2 now when BF3 comes out completely different story, somewhere i read that only 10 percent of the pc's in the world will beable to play that game on max settings.. guess thats what you got to do to get game of the century not year..

you know viperman for someone to come on this thread and act the way you just were after a joke just shows to me and a few people here that you dont really care to respect the forum, and the clan you have posted on thread where i put in size 40 words joking around to see how man people would actually qoute my response to this thread. if i truely wanted to disrespect you i would have directly with no one else to see so no one else comes in to post there 2 cents. on the cpus all i was saying is the 1090t is more stable being that they need to push the envelope just a little further than needed which will cause the cpu to heat up more and not be able to obtain as high of an oc without being stable and that was if he planned on ocing if not go with the 1100t for it being higher stock. so for sinner i am sorry to mini-hijack the thread but i guess you can't joke with Viperman.
