    Anyone play Arma II?

I am thinking of getting it but have no idea how good/bad it is or how my 6970 will handle it. Any ideas?

What are saying, your 6970 can handle any game brother, lord you 're using a monster (the best video card). :)

hate to break it to you, but the 5970 is STILL the most powerful AMD card out there. The only thing better is the GTX 580, which only performs better on some games.

    +1

The 6970 should be able to play any game on the market right now though.

Sometimes measuring the bottleneck can be interpreted in so many ways. The only Thing ATI can render better then Nvidia is BSoD.

    lol. yes it is.

    http://techgage.com/article/amd_radeon_hd_6950_hd_6970_2gb/4

Go through each benchmark. The 5970 beats the 6970 in EVERY single benchmark, only being bested by either the GTX 580, or one of the 6800 models in CrossFireX. Just because it's their newest card doesn't mean it's the best. the 5970 has TWO graphics processing cores. That's why it's so sickly powerful, whereas the 6970 still only has a single GPU.

Oh heck yeah. My 6870 can play any game flawlessly (with the exception of Crysis :icon_razz: ) and the 6970 is more powerful, so it'll more than run Arma. It'll freaking dominate it.

    Re: Anyone play Arma II?

My rig is half decent :P

    Phenom II x6 1090T @ 3.6 GHz
1 TB Baracuda 7200 RPM (getting an ssd soon)
2GB 6970 from saphire (possibly crossfire in a few months)
ASUS Crosshair IV Formula AM3 AMD 890FX SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard

I think the biggest thing that is holding me back right now is my hard drive.

PS I tried the demo and it's working nicely. I have everything maxed except AA and AF and get a constant 30 FPS

that's a little better than what I have. Only thing is 2 cores of your x6 CPU are useless for gaming, and only useful for multi-threaded apps. Games only utilize max of 4 cores right now. I'll DL the demo soon and put up my results soon too. My specs:

    Phenom II x4 955BE @ 3.6GHz (oc'd)
    500GB WD 7200 RPM
    4GB Corsair XMS
1GB Gigabyte Radeon 6870 (oc'd to 950MHz core / 1175MHz Memory) (gonna crossfire when Crysis 2 gets released)
