    Overclocking

Alright, I'm attempting to push my CPU past 3.6Ghz, which I got by changing the multiplier to x18. Don't know how far this stock cooler will get me, but we'll see. Found a good tutorial for the processor I use. Here we go.

    Specs:
    AMD Phenom II x4 955 Black Edition @ 3.6Ghz (3.2Ghz stock)
    MSI 870S-G54
    Corsair XMS DDR3 4GB
    Gigabyte Radeon 6870

With my old CPU, it mostly passed the benchmark test, but I got bluescreen when I tried to run the Windows experience index or tried swapping between BC2 and my music. Maybe you should try the Windows experience index and see what happens?

    Re: Overclocking

    what benchmark test
you need to torture test for hours to make sure you have a stable overclock.
get prime95 and run a torture test for a few hours atleast
    what temps?
    show your cpuid

    Re: Overclocking

update..currently at 3.6Ghz still. Waiting for my next paycheck then I'm getting the CoolerMaster Hyper 212+ cooler. I'm reading reviews of people that have the same processor as me, and some have theirs at 4.1Ghz WITHOUT touching the voltage, with temps at 30C idle, 56C max when running Prime95. :icon_eek:

newegg reviews..I forget which page it was on. Stable, yes. I saw some reports of stock clock speeds with that cooler at only 24C, 42 full load.
