I won't "trust" anything. I'm not the person to find things as "emergencies" that I need to use a credit card for. There is nothing credit does that cash cannot match or outdo. If "cash is hard to obtain and retain" then the stater has not conserved it. You can buy anything with credit, and pay for it until it's out of style. Also, you've paid interest, and a hell of a lot at that. You can buy something with cash and you're done. One payment will be made to debt me in my life. The house I get once I need one for myself. It's in several years, but I'm preparing. You can give in like the rest of the world, or you can act like no one else, so you can live like no one else.

Truth is, you need credit or you will establish no credit and won't be able to purchase a car or house... unless you have 30k or 200k laying around.

Having credit cards can get you in trouble, but if you pay your bills quickly, they aren't a problem. In other words, credit and credit cards aren't evil and if you stay on top of your business, you won't have problems with them.
