Alright, I get the hints. Time for a new PC

T3's been hinting at me for a while about a new pc (don't mind it, I know I need one :PP ) sooooo I have 2 paths. AMD, and Intel. here's what I'm looking at:

    Intel:
    mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130238&cm_re=lga_1156_motherboard-_-13-130-238-_-Product
    cpu: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115214
RAM (2 of these, total of 4 sticks): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145218 (don't know how good this RAM is, don't know much about RAM, so if anyone could tell me if this is a good choice or not, I'd really appreciate it.)
GPU: Yes, I'm going ATI (now AMD). These things are BEAST in crossfire. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150506
HDD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148395 (don't need much. I keep all my music/pics/videos on my laptop)
    DVD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148395
    Case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119227

Alright, that's total for Intel. It comes out to *hangs self* $1,193.11 after rebates.

Ok, now for AMD. HDD, DVD, Case and GPU are the same.
    CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103894
    mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130223
    RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820104204

    total: $1,033.73 after rebates.

I'm gonna look around on ebay to see if I can find any good deals to replace these.

I wanna go high-end just so I won't have to upgrade for a while, but I'll drop a bit..really don't want to spend over $1,000, but I also want to be able to play BC2 and MOH in at LEAST mid-settings at my monitor's res of 1440 x 900

Do you have a Micro Center near you? Not sure if they are that far out, but they have the i7 930 for $199 as their daily price.

EVGA also has good sales on their B-Stock, just have to keep checking back for motherboards:

And don't only shop Newegg.com...lol. Check Slickdeals.net and piece together the PC as you see good sales.

Newegg is good, but there are better deals to be had elsewhere. If you can save $100-$200 by piecing it together, it's worth shopping at multiple retailers.

not for that intel mobo...LOL everywhere else it's at LEAST $50 more. average price was $230, newegg sells it for $175. I just googled all the intel parts and I can't find any cheaper than newegg. I'll try ebay

This board is $99 on EVGA.com:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813188054

Or $110 after MIR on Newegg. As long as you're not running two GPU's, it is fine.

If I wasn't planning on doing Crossfire, I would go for that. It only has one PCIe 2.0 x16 slot. Thanks though :icon_happy:

alright..this might be better than the amd build I had.

    http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=6764433&Sku=B69-9007

barebones AMD Phenom II X6 2.8GHz overclocked to 3.6GHz. Cost: $799, and after shipping it's $820.14. add on a 6870, and everything together is $1,090.93. And it's got USB 3.0 and SATA 6gb/s :D

    *EDIT*

ok how about this. Anybody have any good suggestions that would keep it under or around $1,000 but would still be able to play BC2 and MoH well? Oh and I want that 6870 too :P

Get the Intel chipset. I have the i5-750 (Really an i7 but good old market departments...) @ 2.66GHz and its a BEAST. its the brother chip to the processor you are looking at (Lynnfield). You'll have no issues getting medium settings on BC2 with the ATI 6000 series cards, as I have a 5670 and get 2x, 4x easy. You'll never fill up 8GB of memory but its great to have. Ive only ever hit 3GB and thats running BC2, FF, and same other stuff at the same time. 500GB will serve you well. And nice case.
