    New Laptop :D

alright, so I was looking for a new laptop for college, and I just happen to come across this Yahoo! article about great laptops for around $500. One in the lineup was the Gateway NV5929u. Once I saw the name "Gateway" I was immediately turned off. However, I kept reading about it and the article said this laptop was one of the most powerful in the lineup. Another good thing about it is that this laptop was MISLABELED from the factory when A LOT of them shipped. The price of this laptop: $599.99 on NewEgg. When they shipped, they were labeled as the Gateway 5927u, which is a slower, less powerful model. The result? A good laptop for the cheaper price :icon_weird:

Specs (only complaint I have is the GPU, but this laptop has good reviews, and the price range my mom would pay for was like $650 MAX)

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
CPU: Intel Core i5 430M (2.26Ghz) with Turbo Boost Technology up to 2.53GHz (1066MHz FSB, 3MB L2 Cache)
Optical Drive Type: DVD Super Multi
    Chipset: Intel HM55
GPU: Intel HD Graphics Accelerator (128MB dedicated memory)
    HDD: 320GB 5400rpm SATA
    Resolution: 1366 x 768
    Memory: 4GB Dual-Channel DDR3 1066
    WLAN: 802.11b/g/Draft-N Wi-Fi CERTIFIED

It's also got 4 USB 2.0 ports, 1 VGA out, 1 HDMI out, headphone and microphone ports, 5-in-1 card reader, and a webcam. So I think it's a pretty good buy, and she already ordered it today. should be here monday :icon_mrgreen:

Haven't found any actual customer reviews on gaming yet, but Circuit City's description includes "Play demanding computer games." Still looking atm.

looking nice, for gaming i think it's ok, the nice thing is the intel hd graphics accelerator, what's used in alot of macs because of de hd-tech in it so if the laptop has the turbo boost to 2,53 GHz, i think gaming will be very nice 4 a laptop with that price.

My friend i work with recently got a nice new laptop for $1100, specs:
    Gateway (w/free 3 YR warranty)
    Core i7M
    500GB HDD
    8GB DDR3 RAM
    ATI Radeon 5850

Sometimes measuring the bottleneck can be interpreted in so many ways. The only Thing ATI can render better then Nvidia is BSoD.

like I said, it was for school, not gaming, so if it doesn't play BC2, oh well i'll just wait to build a gaming desktop. lol :P

This i5 model is a dual-core, not quad, but it's still very good for the price.
