    Gaming background

Well tonight my internet crapped out on me and my ping in BC2 is 999. So I thought i would start a post with my gaming background. Maybe some of yall will do the same.

The first game I remember playing is Zaxxon on my dads Apple IIe. Later my father also got an Atari 2600 and i remember playing that tank game (Combat) i think is what its called. When I was 5 i got a Sega Master system with "Hang on and Sufari Hunt" "Afterburner" "Choplifter". Then i got the NES, played "Mario 3" and "Zelda" nonstop. Sega Genises came out and i played Sonic 2 alot and Mortal Kombat 1,2,3. SNES had the best Mario game ever "Super Mario World". N64 i was a Golden Eye fanatic. Thats when computer games got good. my first gaming computer was an AMD K6-2, 32 megs of RAM, 10g HD, and some Voodoo gpu. Played tons of Diablo II, Quake 3 arena, Mech Warrior, Ultima Online, and Star Craft. After that it was MMO's. EQ, Star Wars Galaxies, and my 5 year addiction to World of Warcraft. I did however take a break from WoW to play COD4, then back to WoW. I finally gave up WoW to play BC2 btw i took a big "$60" risk in buying since i never played any of the Battlefield games. That brings us to today. Lovin BC2 and lovin TKC. :icon_mrgreen:

    Re: Gaming background

Oh boy let's see here...I got my first system when I was 4, and that was a Sega Genesis 16-bit. I LOVED that thing, it was all I would play. I would spend countless hours on Road Rash (still never beat the entire thing :P ). Then my nana got me Sonic the Hedgehog 2, and that was all she wrote. Sonic INSTANTLY became my favorite video game character of all time (still is). In fact, I still have that genesis I got 13 years ago. I have every Sonic game on it (1,2,3, Spinball, Sonic & Knuckles), several NHL Hockey games, although '94 was my favorite. I would just skate around smashing people into the walls or stands and laughing at their misery :icon_holy: Then recently I got nostalgic and purchased Road Rash II from ebay, and once again I was hooked.

Got a Gameboy Pocket (smaller version of the GameBoy) and got Donkey Kong as well as Road Rash for it. Then my friend got me into the Pokemon titles (yellow, blue, red) Then I eventually got a GameBoy Advance, and for that I had Lilo and Stitch, and Sonic Advance.

Super Nintendo was next. Super Mario World was all I would play for that, nothing else seemed like much fun for me. Then I got a Nintendo 64, and would play Super Mario 64, Star Fox 64, and Pokemon Snap.

Then came the Sega Dreamcast. I worshiped that thing. It was my all-time favorite system and still is. Main reason (of course) was for Sonic Adventure. BEST sonic game EVER made. Bought my Dreamcast on ebay with a bundle of games including Sonic Adventure, Armada, Fur Fighters, Frogger 2, and an NFL (can't remember which one). Sonic Adventure 2 came out, but I didn't have any money to buy it, so I borrowed it from my friend and mastered the entire thing. Never got Sonic Shuffle, only heard bad things about it :/

A year or two later, my dad got me a PS2 at a pawn shop with Star Wars Starfighter. I still have it today, I would buy games, beat them, then return them/trade them in. Ratchet and Clank is my favorite series from this system, along with Need for Speed.

I'm a PC gamer now, started out with Frogger and Age of Empires, then moved onto Star Wars and Unreal Tournament. Then I discovered the beauty of Half-life. It quickly became my favorite game series for PC, and still is. I'm playing a lot of Unreal again, and I love it :icon_mrgreen:

    Re: Gaming background

Wow nostalgia time hey. I owned every conole ever made up until n64. i dont have the xbox or ps2 and above version of those machines. was always a nintendo fan boy (still am but its starting to waver with all their sub par titles).

I think Zelda is the single greatest franchise ever created, but thats just my opinion. I really hope they make that more mature version that had rumors lurking around the internet. Aside from that i think my single favorite game ever might be Chrono-Trigger for the SNES. i actually still boot it up and play it. way ahead of its time. Honestly not a huge metroid fan. Sad but true fact i loved Quest 64 simply cuz i love rpgs and nintendo fails in that area. BUr if you have never played the Fire emblem series u should give em a shot.

Then i had a bunch of sega saturn games that me and the buddies would play. Legend of Oasis was a pretty cool game. along with the virtua cop titles. i played pokemon for a lil while (yeah i know shoot me). But i played them mostly for gameboy since i could bring that to school/work and play in my free time. And pokemon snap was an eerily fun game as well. Then for the cube i love Rogue Squadron. The Turok series was ok. And Perfect dark was pretty sweet. However one of my all time fave's was Goldeneye 007. I rocked at that game. Used to go 1v3 and win half the time.

Most of the Final fantasy series rocks as well. Although im not a huge fan of the newer ones just cuz im not a huge fan of future/techie type RPGs. Just give me a horse a sword and a magic staff and were good to go. I really wanted to get Dragon Age:Origins but i already devote my life to computer games so i didnt want my wife to leave me lol.

My favorite fighting series would probably be Mortal Kombat. I was pretty good for a while. Love scorpion, sub-zero and cyrax.

Not much of a sports game guy. I do have a couple FIFA soccer games and a madden or two. Never did baseball or basketball or hockey. Oh got a cpl blitz games but those arent sports games lol.

ONce i got back into computer games i loved HL2DM and now the almost epicness that is BC2.

    Re: Gaming background

I didnt have crap til I was 10 basically because my parents got sick of me yelling. I got a GameCube, and dominated Mario Kart and NFS Carbon.

Most of my experience between GameCube and now was at Dave & Busters (arcade) where I dominated anyone I played.

Then I started computer gaming after a friend from Britain sent me an extra copy of HL2. I got into HL2 Dm a few months later. After 4 months of dominance I was kicked off by my parents for 4 months. Since October, I have been back and doing alright. Not that exciting LOL.

Im probably going to get a new computer this year. This one is slowly dying. Both CD drives have died, the memory is slowly dying, and it keep running slower no matter what. I thinking of upgrading to a sweet Dell that will only put me back $800. I'll update when I get the new computer.

Update: Here are the specs on the comp Im looking at. My dad isnt loose with $ and I only need it for 3 years til I go to college and really upgrade.

Sometimes measuring the bottleneck can be interpreted in so many ways. The only Thing ATI can render better then Nvidia is BSoD.

    Re: Gaming background

Lets see, my first game system was the N64, I played Donkey Kong 64 one of my favorite games of all time!!! I never beat it until I was like 15 years old :P
Star fox 64, Dominated that game.
Command & Conquer, never been able to beat it.
Golden Eye. Pretty fun game...wasn't as addicting as some said.
    Mario Kart baby.....yeah...dominated that game...
I've played all the mario party's
Mario Tennis we also dominated at.
I've played so many I can barely keep track...

Next we got a gamecube, one of the games I'll never forget was Smash and Drive. Basically carnage in a car :D
My sister loved Harvest moon and Animal Crossings. I played Animal Crossings because I always liked completely challenges such as catching all the fish. I was so freaking close too.... We would barrow games from friends. But my all time favorite game would have to be Super Mario Smash Bros' I would barrow it all the time from my friend.

After Gamecube we got a Wii,
Which I had Brawl, but our house burned down in the summer of 2009 and we lost all the games. but managed to get the system out. so now we have the new Harvest moon. Excite bots, and some other games not really worth mentioning. because around the time of the Wii I got into PC gaming.
Which right now HL2 would probably be my favorite game for the PC. I've played COD's 1, 3 and 4. Really fun games. Sniping is my favorite thing to do of all time!!!!
I've played Unreal, Quake, and a couple other shooters. If I can get a good pc soon I will definitely invest in BC2.
