I know you guys are alot more computer savy than myself.. I started out in the mid 80s with a packard bell 8088 1 meg hard drive running M$ dos 1.0 maybe even -1.0 It was so far back all commands had to be typed i...n it was a cool word processor at best..

at this point 3 days into windows 7 now have not had any trouble to this point at all... one of the things that I see right off is that I can fly across the whole map and its so smooth ... XP I would sometimes lag like carzy
at anytime of the day or night it was random . Not one time have I lagged in 7 over the last 3 days .. as a matter of fact i have been keeping an eye on the latency and noticed I have been in the 19 to 22 range ... never that good in XP ...

The next thing I realy notice is overclocking my GPUs ... Its like stoping at the ariport with my old RX7 Mazda for some 104 octane fuel.. if it only had wings

I not real sure what all the fuss is about but from my view this system I built one year ago this month was lacking windows 7 to unleash all it Gigs... I love it and Hope its not a time bomb waiting to blow

    If the car do fly u must buy :icon_rolleyes: :icon_mrgreen: :icon_question: :icon_rolleyes:
I feel like now Im really getting my Geek On :P

As I was just reading an older post on the windows 7 subject.. Thread started by Slevin I think about some 3 party updates windows did that caused him the Blue Screen of Death...

The reason I write on this subject is the last time I saw that BSD was right after I installed a 3.5 floppy drive it had a Virus attached to a driver that had nothing to do with the driver itself.. Resulating in the A drive to caus the system to go Bule to protect itself... (XP os)

As of today the begining of day 4 with super badass windows 7 OS runnning on my Super Fly :icon_mrgreen: 1st build system.
I forgot what the BSoD looks like :icon_mad: :icon_cry2:

if the car do fly you must buy :icon_mrgreen:

But I thought you were all on this win 7 kick.. ???????? JK.. you were but thats okay.. and hey maybe it is great altho Im already disliking the name windows 7. Sounds kinda xp-ish ? I used to hate Vista too when it first came out and even long after. However I find 64-bit Vista to be uppper class.. just like its name. On a computer..one with a fairly new motherboard within a year or two I find Vista does really well when it has 8 gigs of ram or more. Anything less and its not as fast or smooth. Half life is very smooth with it.. so smooth I just go wireless and I get no lag or hickups and dont have to do what I hear alot of others do which is muting other players voices because of lag. Now I have one computer that does lag constantly on and off all the time with vista in HL but its not a gaming computer and its on board video just isnt good enough for smooth play. I cant say anything bad about win 7 as an OS. I dont have it and apparently I dont need it either. I have sold it however and made a killing on the preorders. It was 46 percent off on Amazon.com :icon_mrgreen:

I`m still having problems with 64 bit win 7 and internet explorer and also when try to load steam games, works good till you try to go into a server then the steam engine quits working about half the time. Don`t know if it is steam or win 7 64 bit problem as win 7 32 bit was working great when testing it before the release.

You should try running HL with Admin Privileges (Right click the Icon Shortcut -> Properties -> Compatibility Tab -> Check off "Run this program as an administrator"

I had the same issues with other games in vista and running it as admin makes them work without crashing
