Reinstalled, definitely still getting lower FPS that running from Vista, but it's definitely much better before with the updates installed.

Yes, I did a clean reinstall and opted to do none of the Windows Security updates or driver updates.

I'm going to do the same. I'm just not going to install any in the meantime though.

    Yep
64 bit does hang a bit where the 32 bit i was running for almost a year did not. The compatibility thing in windows 7 does help much as he said but other than that i really like windows 7.
It does run much more stable and does use much less on resources. I think it will be the best yet!!!

So Don, does the games lag problems go away with the original Windows 7 DVD clean install with no updates?

Slevin I have never had any Lag and did a clean Install ... Not sure if that is the same you are asking Don or not but I do run DM just fine as a matter fact My games flys.. the FPS are a little slower than with XP but Im okay with that and my eyes cant even tell a difference...

It's running better than before when I had the updates installed, but it's still not running great. I think I'm done playing games on it until SP 1 comes out, which I'm sure will be next summer sometime.

At this point in time, I'm just gonna install every windows update as there are released and see if they finally fixes the problem(s).

the rule on microsoft OS is the newer the edition the more ram and CPU it eats. the more updates you give it, the more it sucks, slows down and screws up. Are you running OMEGA drivers? Nvidia's own driver release for my hardware was total $#%#. good luck, but i wish i could still run win95! XP will have to do... ugh

Windows 7 actually uses less RAM and fewer processes (in mid 50s) than Vista (in mid 70s to low 80s). It was running great for a month before the official release of windows.
