Make fraps use less system resources?

Does anyone know how you can make either fraps or BF3 use less system resources? I am already forcing fraps to use one of four cores, and have it set to half size video recording. If I record with full size, I only get 50 FPS, and I need to have at least 80 to fly good with jets trough personal experience. Half size records with 80-90 FPS witch I am okay with, but I want the vids to have a certian quality too..
So.. Does anyone know any tricks?

Do you have more than one hard drive? Have it record to a different physical drive than the game is running on.

    Ever tried Game Booster?
It disables lots of things on the computer for smoother gaming.

Is your framerate locked in FRAPS settings? If it is, then it's most likely set to record at 60fps and will always lock at 60 while recording.

When I use fraps I have it set to video capture at 30 FPS full size. I do not have lock framerate while recording and even with my system I drop from ~150 down to 80-90 FPS. If I record at 60 FPS Full size it drops me down to about 60 FPS and game play is very hard. I dont know how you dont drop a single framerate.

I have my vsync force-locked at 60fps through Catalyst Control Center. So I always sit at 60 unless I'm on Caspian Border.
