    Bad Weather = Bad Internet Connection?

    anyone else have a problem with your internet speed getting choked down to almost nothing and frequent disconnects when its raining? or is it just me and my tien sha duh internet service provider?

    well it stopped raining here about 20 minutes ago and my connection is still spotty

    Bad weather can cause problems. Im not sure how bad it was there, but if storms start knocking over lines, causing blackouts, whatever, it can knock out nodes and cause data to need to be re routed through other nodes, increasing latency and overloding some nodes, causing lag or other issues like packet loss. I've noticed when the weather gets nasty here i get packet loss issues. If they also have guys out doing maintenance on the lines it can cause problems. It doesnt necessarily resolve itself once the weather passes, but they are very quick at fixing issues like these.

    nothing that extreme here.. light rain.. cloudy skies.. stuff like that and (boom) crap internet.

    Even light amounts of moisture can cause problems with the lines and nodes. It depends on how well the infrastructure you have in your area is protected from the elements.
