    Radeon HD 6850 and 6870 Crossfire Blow GTX 470 and 480 Away

    See for yourself...here's the article. Amazing thing is the 6870 is less than $300.
    http://techgage.com/article/amd_radeon_hd_6870_hd_6850_in_crossfirex/

    and if you're too lazy to read the article ( :P ) then here's the benchmark chart for their most graphics-intensive game that was tested: Metro 2033

    From what i see, thats in cross fire. But a single card cant beat a 480.

    Sometimes measuring the bottleneck can be interpreted in so many ways. The only Thing ATI can render better then Nvidia is BSoD.

    and also, according to that, its no better then the 5870.
    One more thing, thats using DX10, Nvidia still owns in DX11 performance.

    Except I can buy two of those for, roughly, the same price of one 480.

    my point exactly. You also pay around $375 for a 5870, and ~$250 for a 6870, and the 5870 has ~3 fps better than 6870 for most games. I'd rather go with the 6870 than pay another $100 for a 3 fps boost. and I just looked at the GTX 480s, they're around $500. You can just get 2 6870's and kick the Gtx 480 in the butt without the extra power consumption and high temps.

    FYI AMD reordered they naming system for some reason

    6870 = 2nd Gen 5850
    6850 = 2nd Gen 5830

    2nd Gen 5870 -> ??? Who knows buts its going to Kick Nvidia back to the Stone Age.
    2nd Gen 5970 -> Who Knows :icon_teeth:

    I will probably pick up a 6870 in January. I might just double up on my 5770's though. I will wait for the 6900 series, and evaluate the situation then. I am upgrading to an i7 in March, so new mobo, processor, GPU, and at least 4GB more of memory (8GB total). Hoping to get it all done for about $600.

    The only reason the scores are that high is because of the 6800's amazing performance with high-tesselation.

    It just owns in that category. I bet if they turned tessalation off, then the other cards would score way higher.

    A 6870 is less powerful than a 5870.... It's about as powerful as a gtx 460 or 450
