    Steps for fixing the problem:

    1) Get close to your monitor
    2) There is going to be a button that says "Power"
    3) Press it
    4) Enjoy

jk heh good luck on fixing it.

Re: I am sick of computers not working...

yes i did. the computer will turn on, then nothing. black screen is all. I took out the HDD and put my dad's in (it will boot to welcome screen in his computer) and same thing happened. then I put my HDD in dad's computer, and it won't boot to windows, so apparently when my motherboard went, it destroyed windows with it. I'm reinstalling XP on it right now, cuz apparently dad's computer is having issues detecting my windows 7 DVD. (says cannot boot from cd: code 5)

Re: I am sick of computers not working...

It's rare an entire motherboard just goes out.. certain integrated components have a tendency to fry though (integrated video/sound) and that's just fixed by buying a video card with sound.. sounds like it's the HDD not the mother board. Unless you are constantly working on your computer and not taking static electricity precautions.. always a good idea to touch the metal frame inside the computer before touching any electronic components.. including the HDD..

Like, your mobo wont detect it?... cuz I had a similar problem, once i booted off the disc, it wouldnt detect the DVD drive..so i used a different hard drive...

Also..Ive had my motherboard freeze on me during start up on a pentuim 4....
The moterboard froze with a black screen and an error code...
(I did a google serach) and found out that it overheated and was unrecoverable...
So...what you do is remove the bios battery and unplug the comp for about a week then you should be able to boot up again :P

GL with your computer problems...Even though i think monitor's solution is probably the easiest :P :icon_mean: :icon_thelook:

Sometimes measuring the bottleneck can be interpreted in so many ways. The only Thing ATI can render better then Nvidia is BSoD.

Re: I am sick of computers not working...

well all it did was destroy the windows installation I had on there, so I reinstalled that, and apparently my dad's 1.7Ghz AMD Athalon processor is dying, because there is NOTHING on the hard drive now except windows, and the computer is idling at 24-36% CPU usage :icon_neutral: That should not be happening with 2gb of ram. lol. What I'm going to do is (hoping it was my motherboard and not the processor that died in my comp) is buy an asus P4P800-VM socket 478 mobo and some Arctic Silver thermal paste from ebay, and put my 2.4Ghz P4 processor on it, and put it in one of our spare towers and use that. That will at least get me a working computer for now until I have more money to build a new one.
