    Hey guys,
well this morning as i turned on my computer, this weird fan noise started up and didnt stop. i thought it was the processor fan doing its usual stuff, but it became louder and still didnt stop. My dad and I had a look and we think its the transformer fan that not working well. That means Ill be out for a few days, i hope not till wednesday evening. Ill be lookeing forwards on playing again!

well... this evening my dad vacuumed the inside of the computer, thinking dust in the fan made the noise. But it didnt change anything. He then moved the fan conponant around a little, and it stopped! its going to be fine for now, but i dont know about later...

Fans fail dust or not.. but the dust makes them fail faster. You can replace any fan for under ten dollars and altho you could spend alot more for a better quality fan most likely a cheap fan will get the job done for at least two years..if its a case fan chances are you can get by without that one for quite a while.. however if its a processor fan its best not to wait period unless your computer is set to shut off at a pre-set temperature. Ya Crimsonstar thats a good thing that it shuts off.. not all laptops do that, its good to have that built in protection just in case.

well several of my friends have the same Compaq laptop that was on closeout last year, and the vents happen to be placed where your legs are if you have it on your lap :icon_neutral:

anytime i try to play a game on one of those i have to sit it on a desk because i wind up burning my leg. apparently that laptop series doesn't auto shut-down at a preset temp.
