I read about it last night, the question is price because I plan to build a new computer in the next 6 months.

the performance numbers from these "next gen" cards left me severely disappointed, only 10-12% difference from the 700 series. i really hope that AMD brings the heat with their next gen cards. we need a performance race like we had for many years, system improvement seems to be moving a crawl these days.

I have to agree, I would save your money and just get a last Gen card for cheaper when they come out.

Well the thing is that the 970 4gb is costing the same as the 770 2gb. Nvidia is also stopping production of the 770s so i wouldnt be surprised to see no drop in price on any leftovers. Plus the new 900s are more power efficient and i love less heat lol. Playing in room during the summer is brutal if i play any game that really uses the video card.

yep they skipped it. Cuz they released the 700 series as 800m cards for laptops and wanted to bypass any confusion.
