i've been running linux on every system but my desktop for a while now and for the HTPC i just put together this is going to be icing on the cake, also heard word of several AAA titles that will be announced this week for SteamOS.

for the love of all things tech please let it be Half Life 3!

I am very interested in this once I build my new system I will look more closely at it. Let me know how it works if you try it before me.

To be honest, I don't really get it. Is it supposed to replace Windows? Do you dual boot? Just don't get it and I'm too lazy to investigate further because it sounds like they might be biting off more than they can chew.

to be bluntly, yes. but this OS is more so for the living room. one of the great things i love about it is that you can switch to it and still play your windows games from it as long as your windows pc is signed into steam. so you could set up one powerful pc in your house then attach weaker pc's to each of your TV's and play any game from your library from any tv in your house! this is also the next step in dethroning windows as the primary OS for desktops. and this combined with the Mantle API that AMD is coming out with which will be multi platform, say good bye to direct X. which reminds me, if you have a HD7XXX series card or newer EA will be releasing a mantel update to BF4 and dropping directx in December. which will provide a huge performance increase to those cards. may be selling my 7970's for a R9-290x :)

Looks like something your either gonna hate or like. IMO, theres just certain games your gonna want to use a keyboard and mouse set up rather than using this like FPS games.

If I wanted to use a controller I'd buy a console... fail.

Really? No keyboard and mouse support? Wow.

controller is optional, you can still use a keyboard and mouse.
