    Windows 8 Consumer Preview

    Windows 8 Consumer Preview

It's Windows reimagined and reinvented from a solid core of Windows 7 speed and reliability. It's an all-new touch interface. It's a new Windows for new devices. And it's your chance to be one of the first to try it out.

I like the idea but like Knightwolf said, my pc is not a tablet. However I think this is a good idea for those with kids as myself! I have a couple older pcs here that I could look into testing it on with my 4 yr old.

I wasn't impressed by the dev preview at all. The only worthwhile improvements were for tablets (or any type of touchscreen) but just like the others, I don't have one. There are some good changes they made from 7 but they can hardly be noticed.

This looks absolutely outstanding for tablets and people who only use one or two apps or do very basic stuff. For me on the other hand who normally runs no less then 10 apps at a time...this will not do...I want my Start menu back. That has to be one of the best things windows has ever created.. and they let it go to waste.. but windows 8 does have some pretty nifty new features..

Rather then getting rid of the start menu altogether, they should have a choice in control panel that allows you to switch back and forth. Then that would make windows 8 rather impressive.

Sometimes measuring the bottleneck can be interpreted in so many ways. The only Thing ATI can render better then Nvidia is BSoD.

I'm pretty sure I remember reading that the touch screen interface is the "Metro" theme, and if you want you can use a regular windows theme like in 7. I don't think Metro is all of what Windows 8 looks like.

I agree with everyone here on the tablet bit. I definitely won't be using it unless I get one.

Metro can in fact be disabled through the registry to reveal the more familiar task bar setup. I'm sure MS will implement a more formal way to disable it as I'm sure businesses and most OEMs aren't going to want Metro as the default interface.

I don't think I will be upgrading to win 8. I've only had 7 for a while and usually the os release after a major update is a ripoff... that's what this one is looking like to me.
