Case and PSU

I just sold my 120 gig zune, for 120 bucks to a friend and with the 500 bucks I had saved I am getting a new case and PSU, the case is:
An Antec DF-85

I chose the Df-85 because it's a fulltower, and because of the fan filters, a big big luxury considering I don't like water cooling and it has 7 fans, making cleaning a cinch, the 1500 wat is because since power is your only true limiter when upgrading I'd like to have a PSU that can handle up to quad sli. If I ever decide to do that (Which since GPU's have slowed down in release a bit, and are more expensive, buying multiples of the same card>1 new card)

Please! If anyone can reccomend something better for less, or a bit more, or even equal for less please do so I'd appreciate it! =D

get a corsair ax1200, the psu you picked is a multi rail design so reach rail is limited to 25 amps which can limit your upgrade choices and ive seen a few silverstones fail. the corsair has 1 rail so everything has access to the full 100 amps.

Is it worth the 300 watt drop? Like what limits would I have as far as upgrades if I went with the other?
Edit: Just looked up what it meant, when I saw the power requirements and it said 1 12v rail with 50 watts min...

Also, doesn't a 6990 alone take up 650-675 watts of juice, wouldn't that mean that two of em in crossfire would suck up 1300 watts? Or is that not how it works?

Umm, I'm playing RIGHT NOW in BF3 and I'm not dropping below 45fps. Average is 60. ON ULTRA. With a single 6970.

when the tell you the wattage in a review the only way to show its draw is to tell you the entire systems draw. a system with a overclocked i7 with a 6990 under full load its ~489watts. its worth the 300 watt drop. plus there is a limit on 12V line which is 100 amps, company's use multiple rails in order to cheat there way to a higher wattage rating.

So if i understand that would be the best way to keep your comp. in good condition

No sir it doesn't double the wattage required, check this out http://images10.newegg.com/BizIntell/to ... index.html it's a PSU calculator. You select the type of parts and it tells you the power demand needed.

I slapped the stats into the calculator and with 2 6990's it told me 1448 watts needed, with 1, it said 863 watts, I can understand what kingwolf is saying, where he's like "They cheat to get higher wattage" cause now that I see what he's talking about it makes sense. But still, wtf? 1500 watts to run an sli 6990 that seems to make no sense, since the 1500 watt psu's only run multi-rail right now,,,

also know the avg breaker for a home circuit is 15 amps, which limits you to 1800 watts of available power on the circuit. take my home for example, my bedroom, hallway and stairway share the same circuit which sits on a 15 amp breaker. so between all the lighting and everything plugged in, in my room (tv, pc setup, clock, etc...) i only have the ability to use 1800 watts before that breaker pops. as far as neweggs calculator they use the same philosophy that i do, take your max power draw and multiply it by 2. that way even under full load your only using 50% of your PSU total power output. this puts less strain on parts and will allow the unit to function much longer then it would be if you ran it at 100%.

Oh.. All right then, I probably won't be doing crossfire just because of the power sucking it does, however I am getting a mobo capable of SLI/Crossfire so that if I ever need to/want to I can, nice to know I can indeed crossfire 2 6990's on a 1200 watt psu. Thanks for the recommendation guys I am switching PSU's =D
