    New monitor for BF3 preparation

So, have always wanted one, and finally it is done. New 1080p 3D monitor with Nvidia 3D vision kit included.

I really can't wait for it to arrive. It is due arrival at 26th this month. The day before BF3 release in my region.

What do you guys think? Anyone had any experience with the Nvidia 3D thingy?

Keep in mind that if you choose to run 3D, your GPU will be working 2x as hard since you MUST run at 120hz refresh rate to use 3D. With BF3 that's going to make the game run considerably slower so you'll most likely have to turn your settings down unless you have a monster GPU.

Yea, have thought of that, but I dont really need to run 3D all the time, tho.. Think I will be getting a new GTX 560 Ti to run in sli with the one I already have.

You should be good then. And 3D can be turned on via the game, so you can run your desktop at 120hz 24/7 no prob. Just turn on 3D in BF3 and 3D will turn on whenever you turn the game on.

I just got it, and I must say.. The colors and the sharpness on this monitor is absolutely AMAZING! I simply love it. Havent gotten to test out 3D yet.. I will try this monitor for a while, and lay out a short review after I have tried it out.

Re: New monitor for BF3 preparation

Hm.. It seems like running 3D in 120Hz is harder for the GPU than simply running in 120Hz. In BC2, I have to play medium to get an acceptable FPS. Running it in medium, gives me 40-60 FPS with 3D. When I press the 3D button, I get 100 FPS.. I thought that it wouldnt matter, but it surely does.. I might have to buy another GTX 560 to run with my current one to get BF3 in 3D.. We'll see tomorrow.

Yeah, because you're creating two sets of images, not one. That's how 3D works.
