100mhz more than mine stock. Thats pretty much the only difference.... They claim it will be a better over clocker than the 2600k but we will have to see. Its the same chip from what it sounds like. Ive had mine stable to 5.1Ghz and booted it at 5.4Ghz.... IMO, more than I'll need!

40 bucks for 100mhz difference isn't bad at all.

The quad core i7 2600k has 4 cores and 8 threads. There is an Ivy Bridge processor that will be 6 cores and 12 threads. Also the new Ivy Bridge will support quad channel memory!!

Intel Core i7-2700K gets a launch date (and a big price tag)
    http://www.tweaktown.com/news/20856/intel_core_i7_2700k_gets_a_launch_date_and_a_big_price_tag/index.html
Author: Steve Dougherty (more) | CPU, APU & Chipsets News | Posted: Sep 22, 2011 1:37 pm.

After recently hearing of Intel's plans to release a new, top end entry in its LGA1155 Core i7 line, the i7-2700K, new information has come out not only confirming its soon to be existence, but also covering pricing and availability.

Where Intel usually has a tendancy to roll in new top end parts at the same price point as what the predecessor sat at, this time things are expected to be different and apparently the i7-2700K will carry a higher price tag than the 2600K. While the exact price isn't allowed to be revealed at this time, a source has made it clear the i7-2700K will in fact be significantly higher than the 2600K's current $317 price tag - most likely somewhere around the ball park of US$340 to $350.

The i7-2700K will run at 3.5GHz out of the box, a typical 100MHz bump over the previous top model (2600K), while the chip is otherwise pretty much identical, including the multiplier with the highest available setting being 57x.
On the upside, it's been rumoured that Intel is cherry picking its best Sandy Bridge cores for 2700K allocation, and this is backed up by other reports that it is one hell of an impressive overclocker.

As for the release date, it looks like the 24th October folks!

Well the 2700k should win as they are picking the best of the best 2600k's and making them the 2700k.

    Re: i7 2700k

Yep. the 2700K is just a cherry picked 2600K. Like the difference from a random factory 990X stability on DICE and HiCookie's cherry picked 990X on DICE. Most reach 5.5 GHz, his Reached 7.1. The only difference will be stock clock and stability legroom for more overclocking.
