ugh. . .No BF3

My daughter is going to be starting school in the spring, and the cost is much more than anticipated so I will not be able to get my upgrades in the spring. . . So I'm probably not going to be getting BF3 due to the fact that I currently run BFBC2 on low settings and my AMD X2 260 is taxed out at 100%. Hopefully I'm able to run into a BIG sale when the time comes and can atleast get some kind of quad core AMD and just keep my crappy 4gb 667mhz ddr2 and mobo.

I'm in a similar boat man... if the beta is totally unplayable I might not play bf3 right away until I can afford some upgrades (once I get a job) but by then I'll probably have not time for battlefield anyways bleh... I blame Canada.

Even though I pre-ordered my copy, I'm going to be in the beta for a day, if it runs smooth hot cakes, if not I'll wait till my stuff upgrades, then using my copy of BF3. Sigh for games pushing the limits of gaming without enough time to prepare =3

I've been going through some junk around here and I've got a box of random PC stuff I'm going to try and sell at a resell shop so I can upgrade this CPU. I have an AM2+, AM3 mobo (Gigabyte M68M-S2P rev. 2.3) and I wanna try and get this CPU - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6819103849

But I was looking on the CPU support list for my mobo and I don't think it even supports it. Here's the link to the support list - http://www.gigabyte.us/support-download ... x?pid=3498
it says N/A next to since bios version, I have bios version FC. If you see any CPU on this list that would be a good upgrade from my Athlon X2 260 3.2ghz let me know please, thanks guys.

So I should be able to use DDR3 ? it says AM2+ and AM3 around the edge of the motherboard by the cpu socket.

Yeah if you get an AM3 CPU you must use DDR3 RAM. You're going to want at LEAST 4GB for BF3.

As for your BIOS verison, I'm looking at the supported CPUs and honestly, according to Tom's Hardware Gaming CPU Hierarchy Chart, that 6-core CPU will get you the same amount of gaming power as the 955 Black Edition Quad Core, and the 955 is $60 less. According to the chart you linked to Gigabyte, if you flash your BIOS to version FA, it will support the 955 Black Edition, granted that you buy DDR3 RAM to go with it.

I loved this CPU. Only reason I got rid of it is because I'm a stickler for max settings AND recording, and this CPU couldn't handle both at the same time maxed out.

Thanks Crimson, I've been wondering about this for a while now, I've seen several people with my mobo saying they had DDR3 and it always pissed me off cause I couldn't figure out how they did it and now I know! thanks again Crimson.
