For consideration - A heads up

When I rather obliquely mentioned (months ago) I was going to get a 590 when football season started. Kingloser checked in with me regularly on when I was going to pull the trigger.

So, for anyone interested.....

When the new LGA 2011 chipset and Intel CPU's come out I will be upgrading. Not ecause what I have isn't sufficient...quite the contrary. it really as simple as the fact that I like having the latest stuff, and I can usually afford it.

So.......
When I do upgrade, the following will be availablle at my usual discount rates:
A) MSI 1366 Big Bang X Power Motherboard (Got a "Kick Ass" award from Maximum PC)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130289
B) Intel i7-980X, Hex-Core, Unlocked Extreme processor
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=9461&SRCCODE=GOOGLEBASE&cm_mmc_o=VRqCjC7BBTkwCjCECjCE
C) 12GB of Corsair Vengence DDR3 Triple Channel Ram
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233166

And all I can say is that this is is a real fun rig to play with, and occasionallly OC for fun. Its extremely stable.

Anyway....this is a few months away as I heard that LGA 2011 is coming out early 2012....but who knows.
But it is a good opportunity for someone to get a 6 core Intel i7 Extreme processor, with kick ass mobo, and 12GB of good ram, for a real steal.

So cogitate on that.

Actually after reading an article about Sandy Bridge from Tom's Hardware...I'm probably gonna pass on this. The i7-2600K beats the 990X (which is just a refresh of the 980X) in 99% of tests...and it costs 1/3...the only thing it won in was multithreaded workstation applications.

Yep, the 2600k faster for gaming, but when dealing with 3D stuff and bragging rights, the 980x wins.
