My monitor took a dump about an hour ago, got my 42 inch LCD TV hooked up through HDMI right now picture looks good but I'm not sure if I'll be able to play online yet. I am about to check it out and see how it goes.

omg. . . I'm getting a better picture off the TV than I was my monitor lol and still getting 45fps on average! Contemplating getting a 36inch tv for my pc instead of a new monitor

The plastic paneling around the monitor is a nice glossy black. As is the stand.

lets hear some votes: TV vs. Monitor pros and cons if you got them!

cons... HDTV's generally suffer from slower response times and lower pixel density (distance between the pixels) and even in some cases, lower resolutions than lcd PC monitors...
pros... some people like HUGE screens and don't notice above cons
so really it comes down to whatever works best for your enjoyment imho

I'll vote for TV's. I really don't notice the lost refresh rate, dot pitch aperture (just sit farther away), or resolution (1080p good enough).
I'm more into comfort like a good reclining comfy chair, something to kick your feet up on, end tables on each side for consumables and mouse and big TV on wall so all can watch.

I vote for whatever the fuck is cheaper, and in the size you want it. TV's are so advanced now (Matching even monitors) that as long as you get an LED HD TV you should be fine, whatever size you want it in and whatever the price is. I do think that monitors have a max cap of 27" as for "Performace" wise HDMI=DVI but with built in sound for the cable, so if you want to watch youtube or a movie on the couch you can kick back and unplug your headphones and BAM built in speakers. Whatever you decide it should be price that does it for you.

There's no difference in the refresh rate. He's talking about response times...meaning how long it takes input to be shown on the TV. The response time is even higher if you use HDMI to your TV. I noticed this when I used to have my 360 and play CoD. With HDMI, there was very noticeable lag between my button presses and it being shown on screen, but with component it was less. Nonetheless it was still there.

The TV's just don't match up price wise, pound for pound I think a monitor will be best due to the response times, here is one I'm looking at right now

Awesome. Plug that bad-boy in via DVI and You're Acing.
