    Mac OS X on PC

I know some people here have put and ran Mac OS X on their PCs via partition or whatever. Do you know any good guides on how I can do this?

Note: I am trying to get and run Xcode 4 and iOS SDK 4/5 to develop apps. Need a Mac OS to do so.

I know you have an Intel, but I'm saying this for the sake of anyone who would want to try this. You cannot run Mac OS X on an AMD processor. It seems Apple built OS X to run solely on the Intel processors. No clue why, but I've read all over the internet that AMD's are bad to run OS X on.

As for running it, I'm guessing you would need a bootloader (screen that lets you select the OS to run. Linux comes with this..it's called GRUB), and enough space on your HDD or just get another one. If you have all that it's really just a matter of booting with the OS X disc and installing it to your other HDD or partition.

You can run OSX in a virtual machine, no need to dual boot and should support any xcode sdk... here's a guide on how to do it with VirtualBox:
    http://geeknizer.com/install-snow-leopard-virtualbox/

I've done it before with Vmware but vmware can be pricey, virtualbox is freeeeeeeee.

I would go with the virtualbox, it is the best(free) out there and a better choice for him. :)

I got it up and running on VMwarePlayer on 10.6.2. Im going to update it to 10.6.7 tomorrow after I download XCode 3 + iOS SDK. Works really well. Am running it with 2 cores and 4GB RAM. :)

Re: Mac OS X on PC

AMD doesn't operate OS X correctly because it's built off of the X86 architecture, which is from the initial release of Intel's CORE series.

Virtual machines are always the way to go, as they're even more seamless and stable than an LGA 1156 or 1366 Gigabyte oriented build specifically for a Hackintosh.

Good to see it's working Nacho...

Ah ok thanks for clearing that up. Wasn't sure why but I knew they didn't run OS X correctly.

90 percent of amd processors are 64 bit............ what DO YOU THINK Athlon 64 means?

btw... vm's are always the way to go when test or developing

    read:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X86_virtualization

both intel and amd have hardware assisted virtualization capabilities, x86 is the basic standardized instruction set, the virutalization stuff is an extension of the x86 architecture. but anywho, he's using intel so it'll work fine

Sometimes measuring the bottleneck can be interpreted in so many ways. The only Thing ATI can render better then Nvidia is BSoD.

No lag. I have it running Mac OS X 10.6.7 on two cores (Intel i5-750 2.66GHz), 4GB Ram, and 100GB of HDD. Boot can be a little resistant sometimes but it works smoothly once up.
