    desperate need of repairs

Hey guys I'm in desperate need of an upgrade or 3 over here and was hoping to get alittle advice, I'm currently gaming on this: Gigabyte M68M-SP2 mobo, 4gb 667mhz DDR2, AMD X2 260 3.2ghz, Nvidia 9500GT 1gbddr2, 430W thermaletake PSU, win 7 home edition. it runs nice on lower settings but I'm looking to get maxxed settings on BFBC2 and atleast high settings on BF3 with limited lag. My budget will be about 300 in August but I may have more just have to see how things play out. Anything you guys can help me with would be great thanks and happy gaming! Sinner0420

300 is prob not gonna get u max settings. U will need a quadcore which means new mobo/cpu and memory. That alone will take care of ur 300. Plus needing i would guess a 460 ir equal radeon if not a 560 or 6950. Would u be able to sell ur old stuff? Do u overclock? Off the top of my head i would say a
    mobo-$85
    cpu-115
    Memory-85
    Vid card 460-$125 560ti-225
    750w psu 75

If ur a deal shopper u can do newegg and tigerdirect email deals and grab a piece at a time. The longer u wait stuff usually gets cheaper but mobos/psus stay relatively constant

it all depends on what type of system you are wanting amd or intel. but if i were you i would start if you dont have all that much funds available at one time start by building from the ground up. PSU, MOBO, CPU, Ram, GPU that way you will get a decent psu so you can expand on for your system considering for a base system you will need atleast a 6oow psu and thats barebones so i recommend always atleast an 800w psu so you can control your upgrades, but ideally 1000w psu will be nice and be able to handle almost anything needed for your desire to have high settings for bf3.

I still have (2) EVGA GTX 470's at a very attractive price.

$125 ea, or $200 for both if you want to go SLI.

I built my rig for $832 total (with discounts) and my fps still drops from 60 to 45ish when the server's full and I run it maxed out. Here are my specs...

AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition (overclocked to 3.7GHz)
    MSI 870-G54 Mainboard
    4GB Corsair XMS DDR3 1600MHz RAM
    Gigabyte Radeon HD 6870
    Raidmax 730W PSU
    500GB WD HDD
    DVD-RW Drive
Cooler Master Elite Black mid-size case

I already had Win7 and a monitor, keyboard, mouse and speakers.

I started out right with this build, 1200w Corsair Fully modular PSU. Everyone tells me its overkill but its one thing I wont have to purchase again if I/ when I decide to upgrade further!

I don't usually overclock I'm too feaked out about messing something up but sometimes if I find a good program that does presets or something I'll use it, right now I've got my GPU OC'd to 580mhz on the core and 1461mhz on the shader and 370mhz on the memory through a prog called Xtreme Tuner HD from Galaxy and I'm using the Nvidia system monitor. If i could find a place to sell my old stuff back to I would sell it but I'm not sure how to go about doing that, I've got almost another entire pc just sitting in my closet collecting dust also but it's also a dual core with no ddr3 capabillities. Thanks for the advice, Happy gaming! Sinner0420

Yeah, that will probably get you into max settings with a good framerate depending on your resolution. I play at 1440 x 900. If you decide to get the two 470's, then you will most definitely get max settings at a much higher res than what I play at.

Probably should make a decision soon.
I have a neighbor sniffing at one of them. (I'd rather sell them together)

If you ever get ahold of a 6870 and will sell it cheaper than retail, let me know. I'm looking to get another one for BF3. You got some good deals there.
