Sarcasm...? Or did you read it wrong...short for crossfireX. :icon_mrgreen:

Aha...it's those SSDs and the HAF that jack your price way up there. :icon_razz: not to mention three $300 cards.

The New i7s are expected to release Q4 this year... They look amazing too.. Full USB 3.0 support, PCI-E 3.0, Full SATA 3 support, and 22 nm 3D transistors..
AMD is most of the time 2 cores ahead of Intel, but it does not necessarily mean its faster but AMD is definitely cheaper. I've seen preview benchmarks of bulldozen vs sandybridge.. bulldozer wins only cuz it has an embedded AMD 6550 GPU or w/e in it but in reality, you're not going to get those results because you're getting a discrete graphics card. But like BikerDog said, Intel is not cheap but it does have horsepower.

Just a rumor that I've heard but.. Remember the 3-core Processors from AMD..Ive had several people tell me that they're 4 core CPUs that go bad on the production line.. So instead of tossing them out, AMD marketed them. That's also why some people can unlock 3 core processors into 4 core processors.. because they are defective 4 core proccessors..

That's gunna be one nice rig once its built but are you sure that 1050w will support 3 GPUs? .. Also if you build that.. You're gunna get 3 monitors too right?
I too have some specs that I'm eyeing on..
    16 GB DDR3 Corsair ram @ 2000MHz
    Haf 932/X(942)
Corsair Force 3 (SATA III) 128GB
    3-1TB HDDs(raid 5)
    1000W corsair PSU
AMD 6970 (Main GPU w/ eyefinity) (or new 7xxx series)
Nvidia 550Ti (dedicated Physx/Cuda GPU) (or new 6xx series)
    3- Viewsonic 24" monitors 1080p res.
Ivybridge 6-core CPU (releasing Q4 this year)

Sometimes measuring the bottleneck can be interpreted in so many ways. The only Thing ATI can render better then Nvidia is BSoD.

So you think it's better to go with intel but not AMD :icon_question:

(TKC) brownman350 wrote:So you think it's better to go with intel but not AMD :icon_question:

    Well.. This is my opinion:
AMD is okay for gaming computers
Intel is for the extreme power

    Look at this example:
AMD's 6-core thuban is about par with Intel's core i5 (quad core) sandybridge.. but Intel still has the core i7 (quad core + HT) sandybridge...leaving AMD 2-3 steps behind (also because of Westmere 980/990X)

Intel is coming out with the new IvyBridge in Q4 of this year.
    It will has a 4-core, a 6-core and an extreme 6-core.

I think that AMD may finally be at par with Intel's 980X westmere. Which was released in Q1 2010. Which means AMD is more then a year and a half behind.

Sandybridge was a 27% increase in performance then nehalem.
Ivybridge is suppose to be a 32% increase in performance from sandybridge.

AMD may be 2 cores ahead of Intel, but remember, its all about speed. You can compare Intel's 6-core vs AMD's 6-core..its not even a contest.
You can look here though the various benchmarks:
Also, This includes Thuban, Nahalem, and Westmere, this does not include sandybridge

1050 will be should be plenty, running my tower, 2 monitors and everything else, i'm drawing 350 watts total playing BC2

will see how much longer intel is on top. the fact that amd has enough confidence to bring back the FX name says alot. and for you younger folks who dont know, FX was the name amd gave their highest end cpus, until intel got on top. then amd dropped the name. and intel tends to bore me. i see more innovation with amd then intel. then again all this is going to go down hill in 5-10 years when silicon is pushed to the limit and quantum computing takes over.
