Does the truck have a carburetor, or fuel injected? The popping is internal?

Yeah it's internal. Almost sounds like air popping, like one of the cylinder's is leaking when compressed, doesn't really have a metal clunking to it so I don't think it's anything too serious. Like I said, I'll have to wait until I can get in there and figure out what's going on.

hmm...my dad had something like that happen to his jeep cherokee. wound up being the rocker arms. could that be it?

It certainly could be, but at the same time the noise doesn't sound metallic to me. I'll post an update here after I get the time to look into it (whenever that might be).

dad's rocker arms didn't sound metallic either. it sounded like tapping or pressurized air escaping in puffs over and over again.

It looks like you were never added to Sourcebans. Once the next round starts you should be able to wear the tags. Sorry about that.
