JUST CAN'T KEEP THOSE NEW SHOES CLEAN???

So just a little trick that I picked up recently that I thought I would share with the world (or at least the portion of the world that reads the threads). I bought a white pair of shoes recently and, of course, was having trouble keeping them clean. My wife and I were riding in the car from North Carolina (my hometown) to Virginia Beach (where I now reside) and I dumped a little bit of Dr. Pepper on my shoes. Having nothing else in the car, I grabbed a baby wipe and wiped it off. Next thing I know, the baby wipe is getting everything off. Now, they won't get out dirt and junk thats really caked on your shoes, but if you take about 2 minutes every day or two and wipe them down it'll really extend how long they look new. From what I've read it doesn't cause any problems with any type of shoe fabric.

Also, you can use them for general cleaning up (like getting drink or food off a counter), wiping down your bathroom and kitchen in between heavy cleanings, and even cleaning messes off of furniture, floors, carpets, and pretty much any other fabric in the house. And for the ladies, apparently they make for a very efficient make-up removal tool (outside of a chisel and hammer, lol).

Ummm... people have been using soda to clean things for ages. I am happy you stumbled onto this cleaning gem however. I would stick to more clear sodas however b/c the darkness can stain certain things. If you need to clean really dirty white shoes go with a little bleach. But I agree in that you should wipe down white shoes after every use b/c they will get dirty fast. Also, they make white shoe polish.

I never liked the shoe polish because it tends to rub off. Your right about using a little bleach or I've found that regular Colgate tooth paste really clean the hell out of shoes, not sure about other things though.

PJ's I was actually talking about some K-Swiss' I've got, but glad I could startle and old memory. I knew that baby wipes would clean shoes, so I googled what else they could do and found a plethora of ideas out there. I've got another tip coming soon.....

Actually toothpaste with baking soda can fill in scratched discs. It works for CDs, video games and DVDs. Now it doesn't work for badly scratched discs, it only works for ones that are just scratched enough to where they don't work.

Never heard of that to be honest with you. Never will be able to try it out though as I keep soft backups of just about anything I put to disc or buy on disc on my HDD and my external (good thing the military taught me REDUNDANCY!).

Well I was talking about console games, like Xbox, 360, PS2, PS3 etc. One time my Halo wouldn't load a certain level on the Xbox, and I rubbed baking soda toothpaste on it, let it dry and rinsed it off. Put it back in the system and BAM the level loaded.
