Could have told ya about the Satellite thing ... tried it when Hughes first started out back in the 90's... I was after pure bandwidth back then.

Because even the speed of light takes ~500ms to go from your house, up to a bird 22,000 Miles in space, down to you're providers NOC, to you destination via the normal Internet infrastructure, back to their NOC, returning to the bird in the sky (+22,00mi), and finally back to su casa .... not even considering the conversion along the way as well (electric to RF...). :icon_skeptical_3:

So if you're good at math, I would trust the speed of light is holding constant to do more than 88,000 miles in ~500ms ... :icon_happy_8:

So I just bought a prepaid phone (verizon, only thing that works out here) with a 2.5GB data plan, hopefully I can do some tethering for some gaming off it. Additional data is $10 per 1.5GB.

Phone is coming via fedex in the next few days. :)

If this works, I'll be able to play some division.

Oh, does anyone still play BF4? I was gonna donate some money to buy a server for the next few months...

Good Luck on the gaming via tethering... Verizon here is oversubscribed.

A few of us are still playing BF4. We have adopted the Noda BF4 server (and can usually be found there or roaming like Nomads each night), since ours didn't succeed. Our BF3 server was still going strong, last I checked.

Well I tried to use tethering with this phone (LG Power), but as soon as data passes through the connection, it drops. The I find out Straightalk has a 5GB data cap with 4G (my current, new phone carrier is only 3G, and it's horrible), plus website says my LG G2 Verizon phone (although locked because of defaulted account, not my fault) is somehow compatible with their network via new LTE sim card. Difference in price is $35 (current) vs $45. So I guess with my next check, I might try that out. But if I do go that route, I need to get a new digitizer for my G2, my screen has some bad touch spots, can't use swype anymore :(

...and now within the next month or so, maybe sooner, I'll be back on cable connection. Wife and I found an apartment for rent close to our works.
