The Ultimate Windows Fail

Okay so I booted my computer up the other day and the first thing it tells me is a message from DEP (Data Execution Prevention). DEP is a safety precaution built into Windows XP that detects and shuts down any unwanted or malicious process. Well the problem was that the process it shut down was called "Application Layer Gateway Service" and the publisher was Microsoft Corporation!!! Windows is so freaking messed up that it shut down one of it's own services because it thought it was malicious!!!!! I so wish I had taken a screenshot and sent it in to failblog.org

You have spyware LOL that sucks, I got the same thing like a month ago, I coudn't find a program to remove it, but I didn't care much anyway, I have my system split into 2 partitions, one is where I have windows installed and all the programs (which I can reinstall with my cd's, including windows of course) and in the other partition I have all my data ( music, movies, pictures ) so when I get spyware ( which is not often to me ) and it's really bad ( which is what I did when I was in your case) I reformatted the whole partition (the one that has windows of course) and start all over again plus your computer will work a lot better now, since you removed all the junk that was there and reinstalled just the most nesesary programs, the most important one like HALF LIFE 2 DEATHMATH, oh and COD 4 which is new to me he he he. :icon_twisted:

That's what I did :)

Well actually it's not spyware. I looked it up and Application Layer Gateway Service is an actual Windows program that it uses to run, and I checked over DEP and it was working fine. I have PCTools Spyware Doctor and Registry Mechanic so they would have detected something if there really was spyware. Just to be safe I ran full scans of EVERYTHING with my anti-virus, Spyware Doctor and Registry Mechanic. Nothing showed up and it just goes to show you how messed up Microsoft really is that it would shut down one of it's own programs on threat of being "malicious". ROFL
