I've you ever take a few minutes to ask your self some questions about the world , like why the colors red ,pink , black and yellow are called like that ,who's the first one who has decided to give names to many things .I know some of you will say that ,(( if brownman350 is crazy )) but ,i beleive that a human been i've the right to ask questions concerning words and names that he use every days of his life ,if not we can say that we are not free 'cause the peoples who have lived before us have dicided for all of us . I am sure that I am not the only one who wants to know all of that , the deference is , the others won't ever mention any thing about that and we don't have the right to blame them 'cause we have been raise to be like we are , but me , i say it loud and i don't care about what people will say

Well for those who believe the bible it was Adam who named all the animals of the world.

Don't know about colors though!

I just looked it up and found this:

I looked up the colors red, yellow and blue (the primary colors) on Merriam-Webster Online. All go back to Old High German words for red, yellow and blue. This indicates that the names of these colors originated long ago during the time when the English (the germanic Anglo-Saxon tribes) were semi-barbaric and did not have writing. Thus no record survives of how these colors got their names or who named them.

Of the secondary colors, Green comes from the Old English word Growan, "to grow"; Orange comes from the Sanskrit word Narange, which is the word for the orange tree; Purple is from the Latin word Purpura, which refers to the fantastically expensive phoenician purple dye. Again, no one knows what person came up with these names.

I beleive in the bible like you , but don't forget that you can't read the bible like the other books ,it's more complicated you have to analyze the words and the sentences to undesrtand it and we have more things now than before .

Man, Brownman, I like you a lot!!
I love the discussions you have, i'm a bit like you and I love questioning about the world!!
My parents think i'm stupid, me and my thoughts, but i find it fascinating always asking WHY?

I'm with you when you say that people should have the possibility to question the world, and i'm also with you when you say that people should mention it to others. I'm planing to write a book about that before I kill myself... Naw! just kidding!!! But sometimes I do find the world not a good place because of the humans, the wars weve made, polution and and just plain meaness. But the world is a very nice place cause we are allowed to live.

Don't forget , every you ask a question it is like you ask to be more educated and every time you find an answer ,your spirit becomes better than before . :icon_eyes:

The truth is ...... everything has to be recognized by a name or a sound so we can communicate and be able to refer to it. These names thorugh out history catagorize the items. After all, to communicate we all have to recognize the same item and its meaning. The name of something does not matter what it is called... just as long as the communicators are able to relate to what is being said. A BIRD could be called a BOX, only if people recognized that a BOX is actually a BIRD!! Names and words their meanings also change with time. I doubt any of us could understand anyone speaking in "Old English" (ever try to read Shakespeare or the King James) and vise-versa......... WORD? That's the IZZY, Bussin' the MOVE..... I agree with you brownman that we should continually ask the age old question, Why?. You have to be able to question an aspect of life and to seek the answer or else nothing would ever change. Think about Sir Isaac Newton when he discovered gravity. Had he not questioned why the apple fell from the tree and hit him in the head, physics as we know it probably wouldn't exist. This is the same for numerous events in history. And it doesn't just apply to human history, but also to biblical teachings. The bible even says that you must question God and his teachings to achieve a higher understanding. Even we, as people, didn't question the everyday, everything would be so much different. There have been several nights that I've sat outside looking at the stars and wondered why we, meaning humans, are here, something every philosopher to past and to come has asked. I whole heartedly believe that I, nor anyone else, will know until you stand before Him on your final day. I want to say that the day my son was born I figured out why I'm personally here though, and I still believe that taking care of and raising my family isn't my only purpose in life. The rest, I will just have to wait for time to pass before I'll know and I can't wait to find out. I've known for a long time that we're all here for a reason, we just have to make sure that we make the best choices we can in life and can fulfill that purpose.

I must tell you man that it is a pleasure to share ideas with some like you 'cause we can learn from each other .There is some people if they don't like one of your thoughts they just classified you , but you ,like me ,you are different , you understand the fact that there is always some thing positive or negative from every ideas , depend on how you look at it .

I'm was just refering to philosophers who have recognized the same questions (epistemology/truth) which have shaped my opinions.
