Seems like George Lucas gave it all away to charity.

He pretty much just gave Star Wars away for charity...

Disney will ruin it. Everyone in my dorm pretty much cried yesterday over this news. And I go to a nerd school.

Well, I have to say this..

Lucus was done with the franchise. He is in his 60's now right? Maybe even closer to 70, he doesn't want to make any more Star Wars films. At least with this, there is a CHANCE to see more Star Wars movies and a CHANCE that they will be treated right. I doubt very much Disney would go out and hire a team that wasn't a bunch of Star Wars fans/film makers, who would want to do justice to the world of Star Wars. Without this sale, there is no telling when we might get another Star Wars movie, if ever.

Its more than a chance, Disney has confirmed they are making another. I have read in places they plan on making a whole new trilogy.

Yes, I know there are more movies coming.. I mean you get a chance to see more movies.

Why? The last 3 movies weren't that great, what do you have to lose exactly?

Ya know .. the first 3 (err .. eummm actually eps 4,5, and 6) .. had cutting edge special effects 'at the time' which opened up a world of imagination never before seen on the screen. That was bound to impress anyone back then, even if the story sucked -- which it didn't ++ added bonus.

So the next three come along in a world where special effects are a dime a dozen ... so the story MUST BE GOOD to live up to the expectations that were already high.... tuff to do.

If these next 3 can focus more on story, having many memorable moments that grip the emotions -- for example: like when obi-won fought Darth Maul at the end of episode 1, everyone I know enjoyed that fight and got into it and was like 'YESSS he kicked his ass' -- OR when Vader says " I'm your father punk " .. I remember sitting in my movie chair going 'Noooo freekn wayyy' .... they will be worthy. A little better humor wouldn't hurt, Solo was pretty good at it...

If they just rely on special effects alone and half ass story telling and politics -- they are doomed.

I'm looking forward to them --
