USING GRAV-GUN

ive been looking around on some Half-Life forums and on one of them, someone wrote that the Grav-Gun can be used to catch and propell objects, grenades, orbs and impact grenades (smg grenades)!!!
I don't remeber which forum I saw this on, but, is that possible?

I don't think that's true. I've tried to catch impact grenades many times and all they do is blow up in my face. I don't recommend trying it.

Haven't heard of impact grenade cooking.. don't think i'll try it.

You can use the gravity gun to propel grenades. It is similar to speed orbing. You can cook grenades indefinitely by dropping them with the grav gun, picking them up then dropping them again repeatedly. But you only got about 2 seconds to pick them back up before they explode. I've never heard of using the grav gun on smg grenades. You can shoot impact grenades in mid flight, limiting damage to you and also hurt the guy who shoot them at you.
It is possible to catch grenades that people throw at you with their grav gun. It has a lot to do with timing...if they cook them long enough they will explode in your face, but if you manage to catch one, the timer restarts and you have another 2 or so seconds to throw it back.

I knew that, but i guess some crazy guy thought that it is possible to catch a smg grenade.
Maybe a small chance, but is it possible by changing the setting on the server?

Well I am the expert in this I beilieve he ment not catching but lessing the smg gernace In cal we thought if you can get the grav gun on the smg gernade before it hits you it can lessen the damage.

it doesnt take "cal" people to figure out that it could lessen damage. anyways cal is dead i am sure you knew cal was bought and all the admin were fired i doubt cal is coming back

As everyone knows, CAL was purchased by a middle-eastern media company. Part of the agreement was that all admins would be fired upon transfer of the league. Right now the ten servers that the CAL database has been located on has been moved to one server in Germany and the admins have been locked out of the league.
Theres nothing you can do but wait.

yesterday i tried using the grav-gun on the smg grenade. When i tried cooking it it didnt work , but when i tried to propel it like a speed orb, it blew up in my face, but it didnt kill me. after thinking about it, i deduced that if you see a smg grenade fired at you and that u have good timing, you can push it away from you with the grav-gun by left-clicking, it will explode but you might have less damage than you would have had if you didnt push it away. There.

Yeah that's basically what happens. I tried propelling the smg grenade with the grav-gun, and all it did was blow up in my face. didn't kill me though. Oh yeah and you do take less damage if someone shoots an smg grenade at you and you shoot it with the grav-gun.
