    bluray viewer?

so i guess the folks at Cyberlink have decided that the copy of PowerDVD thats on my computer is not capable of playing bluray movies that have been made since june of this year and want me to pay $60 to upgrade to a newer version. anyone know of a free program that will allow you to watch bluray movies on your PC?

Nope. There is currently no way to do this since Sony owns the rights to Blu-Ray (they created it) and they sell it to companies. This in turn makes said companies have to sell their software to make any sort of money. I wound up buying Cyberlink PowerDVD 11 to play my Blu-Ray movies, only to find that my monitor isn't HDCP compliant, and I can't watch Blu-Ray until I get a better monitor :icon_droopy:

Tried this when my PC was hooked up to my tv. was buggy as hell and the video artifacted like crazy all the time. Doesn't work well at all.

And this is why, taken from that link you put here viper:

NB: Most commercial Blu-Ray are protected by AACS or BD+ technologies and this library is not enough to playback those discs.

In layman's terms, 99% of BD-movies will not work with this. It's more of a fun project for programmers.

Sometimes measuring the bottleneck can be interpreted in so many ways. The only Thing ATI can render better then Nvidia is BSoD.

Because it's a 40-day trial. Once that trial is over you have to buy it

It's actually a pretty good program. I only bought it because it works well, unlike a lot of the other ones out there.

Haha yeah I was disappointed too when I found that out. I too thought it was free when I first got it.
