Anyone else getting this game? I already pre ordered it I was a big fan of the first one, and on steam if you own the first one you get 20% off.
If you arnt familiar with Red Orchestra, it is a super realistic WWII FPS centered around the Russian and German conflict. It is very different from other multiplayer FPS's as there are a lot of realistic gaming mechanics. If you get shot in the foot or leg, limp around. If you get shot in the arm or hands, you drop your gun. If your machine gun over heats, you change the barrel. Tanks require a full crew to operate a tank, you need a driver, gunner(main gun), another gunner for the machine gun(in the front. These are just a few examples that i can remember from the original game.

I dont think so. I have heard about a closed beta, and one of the pre order bonuses is access to a closed beta before august ends, but im not sure if there is any way to get into the closed beta without pre ordering.

I know WWII has been done a lot, but this game plays so differently than every other multiplayer FPS it doesnt even matter.

I stand by my comment
JEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEETTTTTTTTTTTTTTSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS (are not in WWII shooters)
yes WWII is worthy of respect (in a museum) for changing the world forever and being a pivotal moment in human history.... but...
JEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEETTTTTTTTTTTTTTSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!
i seriously find it hard to care about yet another WWII shooter when there are...
JEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEETTTTTTTTTTTTTTSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS to be flown!

Well i just played a bit of the beta, and the game is actually quite good. Animations are a little weak, but otherwise the game is technically pretty good. The shader effects are all awesome, post processing, ambient occlusion, lighting, shadowing, and other shader effects are some of the best i've seen in a multiplayer FPS. The game also does a SUPERB job at making you feel like you are actually in the battle. The sound track is amazing, bullet physics are actually superior to battlefield and weapons feel and operate the way they should. Guns jam and you have to fix them, Machine gun barrels over heat and you have to exchange the barrel itself, recoil is realistic, machine guns have to actually be fired from a supported position to be effective, the list goes on. Character dialogue is also extremely well done and adds an incredible amount to the immersion. What i mean is, BC2 does this, but in BC2 character dialogue is limited to one player's interaction to another. For instance if i shoot someone on the opposing team, my character yells an insult. All dialogue is only based on interactions between two characters. But in RO i noticed that it goes beyond that. For instance i was running behind a team mate of mine, and a nazi came up behind him and stabbed him. My character then started yelling "BROTHER NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO". Something similar happened when i was standing next to a team mate of mine who was sniping out of a building, and i watched him get sniped. This may sound petty, but when your character vocally reacts to things that go on around him, given that it is in a multiplayer environment and not scripted like a single player game, it can actually add a lot to the immersion factor.
