We earlier reported a leak from Modern Warfare 3‘s multiplayer details, now we’re going to be talking about the campaign.

There will be major spoilers for Modern Warfare 2 and for the upcoming Modern Warfare 3, so if you want to play the game’s story fresh, I suggest you turn back now.

Characters
First off, there are two new character in the Modern Warfare universe called “Frost” and “Sandman,” both of them are Delta Force operatives.

Now that we have that out of the way, we’re now delving into the meat and potatoes of MW3‘s single-player campaign.

Locations
The campaign of Modern Warfare 3 will span these places:

Dharmasala, India
New York, New York
A plane transporting the president of Russia
A town in Sierra Leone
London, England
Mogadishu, Somalia
Hamburg, Germany
Paris, France
Prague, Czech Republic
A castle in the Czech mountains
Berlin, Germany
The Kremlin in Moscow, Russia
Dubai, United Arab Emirates
Washington. D.C.
Full campaign story
Modern Warfare 3 starts immediately where MW2 left off, the US under attack by Russian forces, Makarov evades capture, Soap and Captain Price hurt and on the lam with Nikolai.

After the three characters fight with Makarov, they find their safehouse is compromised and they flee using a chopper, During this time the player will be in control of a new character named “Yuri,” he is a man who works for Nikolai.

Remember “Frost” we mentioned earlier? In the next scene he makes an appearance. This time the setting is in Manhattan where Russia is launching an attack via a fleet of ships on the Hudson River. The US enlists the help of Delta Force to counter the insurgents and you take control of Frost in this scenario; a Delta Force operative under the command of Sandman. Your goal is to go on top of the New York Stock Exchange. take out the jamming tower and clear the the area for US reinforcements to counterattack.

After the New York battle, the game cuts to six months into the future. This time you’re a Russian agent tasked to protect the Russian President as he flies to the US to sign a peace treaty. The plane is attacked mid-flight, the hijackers tries to kidnap the president and his daughter but the daughter escapes. Makarov, with the president captured, vows to prevent the peace treaty from happening by getting the “launch codes” from the president and launching an attack against America.

The game then shifts back to Price, Soap and Yuri, this time they’re in Africa in search of Makarov. The group intercept a shipment of chemical weapons that Makarov was planning on buying from African militia.

The player then takes control of an SAS operative who is assigned to stop a delivery of WMDs (Weapons of Mass Destruction) at a London dockyard. A firefight takes place that culminates with a series of trucks exploding in front of the house of Parliament and releasing a deadly chemical agent.

Other European cities and military bases are struck with similar attacks with Russia’s backing. The death toll rises to tens of thousands and opens the door for a Russian military “blitz” strikes from across the continent.

Price discovers that the man who helped them in Africa to take down Makarov, is actually on Makarov’s side. Price travels to Somalia to find and extract the information from this man and finds out that Makarov’s right hand man name “Volk,” is in Paris.

The game then shifts to Hamburg, Germany, where the player takes on the role of a US tank gunner fighting against the Russians. As Hamburg falls, the story reverts back to Price and his mates in Paris. Players get to control Frost again and storm Volk’s hideout in an underground catacomb in the city with the help of French special forces. You then control the gunner seat in an AC-130 lending support for Frost and the ground troops.

When you finally get to capture and interrogate Volk, you learn that Makarov is in a Prague hotel, this time the player controls Yuri again as he and Soap slip into the Russian-controlled city and set-up an ambush for Makarov in a church bell tower. The trap is unsuccessful and Yuri, Soap and Price have to fight their way out of the city.

Yuri leads the crew to one of Makarov’s headquarters in the Czech mountains and the group is able to infiltrate the location, spotting for clues, they discover Makarov has the Russian president and is trying to get the codes out of him. Makarov has also discovered the location of the president’s daughter and attempts to abduct her. The group goes to Berlin to try and thwart the kidnapping, you play as Frost again and your duty is to find and protect the president’s daughter fighting through Berlin. Eventually, the daughter is caught and is flown away.

Frost makes his way to Kremlin next in an attempt to free the president and his daughter from Makarov with the help of other operatives, they succeed but Makarov escapes yet again.

The game’s concluding mission happens in Dubai, where Price, Yuri and Sandman assault a heavily guarded hotel looking for Makarov. In the end they find him and eventually kill him.

The game may include a post-credit levels level that shows the burning of Washington D.C. The ending purportedly shows a sign of Task Force 141 passing the torch to the new characters from Delta Force.

Leaked E3 recording
Drop by Kotaku to read the thing in its entirety. The site also has an audio recording that is supposedly created and to be used by Activision at this year’s E3.

Bowling’s response
Robert Bowling, Creative Strategist at Infinity Ward took to his Twitter (http://twitter.com/#!/fourzerotwo)to address the leak.

A lot of hype & a lot of leaked info on #MW3, some still accurate, some not. To avoid spoiling the experience, I'd wait for the real reveal.
Robert Bowling, Creative Strategist at Infinity Ward
Yep. So this means part of the story listed here, could be erroneous, but Bowling has all but confirmed that Modern Warfare 3 is happening and parts of this is true.

COD for SP and BF3 for MP, i think the story (Campaign Mod)of COD is much more better than BF3.

I am totally over the teeny, tiny, elementary school playground size maps of the COD MP games.

If they will design bigger maps, I'll play, otherwise, I'm out.

I still like to play MOH because of the 3 large maps (Shah-I-Kot, Helmand Valley, and Mazar-I-Sharif) used for the "Combat Mission" mode. Infact, I play it 3-4 times a week just for a change of pace.

I will occasionally play MOH sector control, but those maps are almost as aggravatingly small as COD's. Large maps is why I stayed with Novalogics Delta Force series for so long.

I don't like playing a combat game on a map the size of my backyard.

Just my thoughts.....not bagging on COD....just my opinion is all. So put away the flamethrowers .... :icon_mrgreen:

Wait for the official reveal
With all of the leaks about Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 that have been hitting the Internet over the weekend, Robert Bowling from Infinity Ward suggests that you wait for the official reveal in his Twitter feed.

According to his Twitter post, some of the leaked information is accurate and some is not. Recent publication of what was purported to be MW3’s full game plot made its way around; and even our own sources are claiming that it is not totally accurate from what they are hearing.

While a very limited and vague official trailer was released, there is still no official word as to when Activision plans to officially reveal and announce the title. While some of our sources insist that it will be shown for the first time at E3, others tell of Activision officially announcing it prior to E3. With so much conflicting information, we are not sure what to believe; but we think it is likely at this point that it will be officially announced and launched at E3, unless Activision takes the wraps off next week.

i dont even think this was a leak. it came out at the same time as the teasers. its just a publicity stunt. IW lets loose a piece of information, but its fake. So when everyone gets the game, they already expect what to get, but its all different, and they are like "WOW! its amazing!".

idk. just a theory.
