Looking for a new media player

i have an extensive music library - program needs to be able to handle 50000+ media files at once
looking for music or music/video player not just video player

    i have used

medimoney (best so far to date)
    winamp
helium music manager (love alot of the features but slow and lack of plugins)
    j river media player
    song bird
    wmp 11
    windows media center

are there any not already on this list that you guys use?

edit: ohh ya and iTunes can suck it!

Re: Looking for a new media player

from what I've read, media monkey is pretty much as good as it gets for being lightweight and full of features. Songbird is the new kid and is pretty nice with the plugin engine (mozilla) but lacks a lot of tagging features that media monkey has.

I've been searching for a better media manager tool for as long as I can remember and have given up. The only one i've seen recently that has some promise is musicbee (http://www.getmusicbee.com/). Uber minimalist, simple, fast GUI but I'm not sure if it has a lot of video playback options yet... still a fairly new project. HTH!

ya i dont need a video player as i have one that i like. but i will check out the one you linked. oh ya and helium has the best tagging system by far if it just wasn't so damn slow i would use that over mediamonkey

VLC is probably the easiest and most reliable. it will play dang near all (if not all) file type. runs light, easy to navigate.

That's because it has the K-Lite Codec pack built into it. You can download that codec pack for free and install it to work with any media player. I like using WMP and just install that codec pack (minus the VLC player as it's an option during the install), set the file associations to WMP, and I've never ran into anything that won't play.

that's what I do. Although I do use VLC to play .mkv files..it plays them better than divx...and divx created that file type. lol.

unfortunately it does not work properly w/ my resolution
other than that seems like a nice program.
limited features (lack of tagging) seems to be the only downside.
perhaps would be better with a HTPC rather than my gaming rig
