Does anybody have any experience with this R.A.T. 5 / 7 / 9 mouse. I suffer from pinky drag and the mouse I use is from microsoft and cost 4.38 so I thought I might try this thing and maybe improve my game. Or maybe you guys have better suggestions, also need a good pad.[utube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WfM54oyTpCo[/utube]

If you can find the mouse for much less than its original price ($99.99) then get it, otherwise, it feels too cheap and breakable. the pinky rest is good, along with the sniper's button near the thumb rest (slows down dpi upon holding for accuracy), but it's very plastic like in exchange for customization of the several parts. $50-$60 is a much better sounding price for the mouse.

My personal favorite is the Logitech G500 simply because there are no moving customizable parts, which are completely unneeded in my opinions, and it is very cheap when compared to other mice. it has textured surfaces for the thumb and pinky, which is just enough, also has switchable dpi on the fly, and the extra buttons are as useful for other applications as they are for games.

Since you've got the bargain price for the RAT go get it. :)

Maybe I will try it and get back to everyone. If it sucks then I've had a lesson to learn. The forums are mixed on it but all agree that the customization is good but the software is nonexistent. Another complaint is the thumb screw at the back presses against the palm of some hands but I have big hands and most mouses seem puny anyway. If it doesn't make the grade then I'll use it for the other computers (or a paper weight) and try the G500 next, the height looks good and there's indents to help with the pinky and thumb drag.

What pads are you guys using?

I don't have a particular mouse pad, but I prefer cloth mouse pads over textured pads specifically for tracking. It just feels smoother with a cloth mouse pad.

I've just got a plain solid black one I picked up from Wal-Mart for about $3. Some people say the material can make a difference with accuracy, but I'd never notice. The only thing I don't like is that it tends to move while I'm playing and it's not big enough for my palm to rest on.

I was thinking of something big because I tend to track off the pad a lot. I'll check the cloth ones out.
Thanks for the many suggestions.
