Shared graphics or Dedicated ?

What is better for a computer..Shared graphics with a card or Dedicated ? Heard both sides of the issue, anyone have any proven facts as to which is better?

getting a card is always best. reason being, shared graphics built-in on the mobo are VERY limited to what they can do, and they are almost always pretty weak. another bad thing about it is that shared uses video memory stolen from your system RAM and slows your computer.

in pc or laptop?

dedicated has own memory controller with way better performance then shared which relies on your systems memory controller
for everyday use shared is fine nowadays with pc's and laptops coming with more than 2gigs
but for any kind of gaming (not flash or solitaire) and editing dedicated is a MUST.

i know it is a pretty generic answer but if you want to game buy a GPU
on a side note you can always get a MOBO with integrated GPU so if your dedicated goes out and you
have to send in for repair you will still be able to use pc without having to scramble to find a GPU

That's why I'm keeping my GeForce 8400GS just in case I have a prob with my new setup

DEDICATED. Never buy shared memory unless you have no wish to game at all.
