I don't have that issue. Try adding your torrent client to the exceptions list.

AVG started causing me blue screens so I switched to Microsoft Security Essentials and haven't had any more problems with blue screens.

Maybe you had an other problem because no anti-virus can do that.

Actually I took it to a software person who read all my dump files and told me the problem was AVG. I removed it and haven't had more issues... so yeah, it was causing BSOD's.

Nice. Haven't ran into any issues with it in the past and its saved me from a virus on more than one occasion, so I guess its just another preference thing.

I take that back. I've got two computers that I've updated to 2011 and they both started running crappy. One I just got done re-installing Windows and I'm going to give it another shot, but I dunno.

Yeah I had upgraded to AVG 2011 but the blue screens actually started before the upgrade. My guess is that I had updated something, most likely my display drivers, and AVG didn't play nice because up until a month or so ago AVG hadn't ever caused a problem. It's all good now anyway, the Microsoft Security Essentials seems pretty solid and gets good reviews. Pretty amazing since it's v1.0.
I'm not trying to convince you to change your AV software but if you are interested, here is a short review. BTW it IS free:

I was actually looking at an article earlier today listing a random website's top picks for free AV software and Windows approach came up. I think I might just grab it since it should integrate quite nicely into any Windows based system (one would hope anyways).

It's flagged me a couple of times, I've been happy with it.

Well, I've got it installed and dropped AVG. I'm still keeping Malwarebytes though.
