yes there will be. it's 5.1 surround, not 2.1 stereo, and the speakers are in the headband. there's a MAJOR difference.

With my SoundBlaster X-tremeGamer I have surround sound headset that were $20.

It's all done via the software in my case, and yes Brownman, it does make a difference. When you can tell what direction the sound is coming from, that means you know which way to turn. It's really that simple.

yes, because with a 2.1 stereo headset, the concept of "surround sound" when sound is going from one speaker to the other, is the sound fading in one ear and slowly becoming louder in the other. in the 5.1 headset, it literally goes from speaker to speaker in the headband that goes around your head, and creates the effect that you're actually in a 5.1 speaker environment.

I saw these when I went searching for a headset mic setup, I got pursuaded by reviews pointing to Medusa so I purchased them.

There is a different, you can tell exactly where that helicopter is and which direction the explosion is comming from. One thing with some of these are sometimes the front and surround channels get reversed so you have to go through your sound control panel and switch them.

They don't improve stereo at all though.

Even just going from a 2.1 speaker setup to a 5.1 has made a big difference for me.

It wont matter to me because I always listen to loud music while I play, so I dont really listen to the ingame sounds :p

BTW... Bought myself a brand new Sony MDR-XB300 headset. SICK bass in these. frequensy range from 5hz to 22000hz :D Good for music and for gaming, but not surround..

Now I'm convinced I'm getting crusty, first bad turned to good, now sick means ? I'm guessing good or awesome or something observing the low (Hz) response.

i need a new headset. my boy broke my good ones, now i'm stuck using the back up 10dollar logi's with the foam missing :icon_wowcry:
