hey guys,
for my chemistry class, i have to to a project on light therapy lamps. In my team, i'm working on the composition (chemicals) used in fluorescent light therapy bulbs (they are not the same as normal fluorescent bulbs). The only thing is, it is impossible to find that type of information. My dad (who works at an university) gave me access to periodics about everything, and its been a week ive been searching and not finding.

My incompetent teacher tells me to ask people if they have lamps and see if on the box it is written what type of materials are used.

Well I am asking you guys! Do you have therapy lights? If you do, do you know what chemicals are in the bulb?
I dont need to know why you have one.

Well its a research project so he's going to make the students find out, not just give it to them.

don't know if this will help but i asked my girl who's an RN about this and she said look into
SAD - Seasonal Affective Disorder and what type of light they use for treatment.

yeah, SAD is pretty much much what ive been reading about this week...

I work with a man from Chile, who received a Master's degree in the physiology of the body. From his descriptions of how many classes he took the degree was somewhere between a Master's and PhD here in the United States. He said in Chile, and other South American countries, that red light is used for muscle therapy. I picked up a red flood light from a hardware store for about 8 bucks and let it beam on my neck and upper back for about 15-20 minutes and I definitely feel a difference. I am still not sure if it is just the heat or if the red light is actually helping but, my friend suggests that a particular ray that is emitted from red light, but not white light, is absorbed by the muscles and helps them heal. If you happen to come across any research suggesting that this is true or false let me know. Good luck with the research!
