    Steam Update/Games deleted?

I just logged into steam today and there was a client update so I restarted and now all my Steam games need to be downloaded/installed again? They weren't actually deleted because if I go into my common directory all the games are still there, plus I haven't gained any more space on my hard disk. So the games are still there but Steam seems to think they're not installed and if I launch a game it asks to install again.

Has anyone else had this? So far I think the only way to fix it is to manually delete the games from the steam directory and then download trough steam again :icon_lookdown:

I would definitely google it and see if you can find a solution.

I'm on Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. I've never had this problem with Steam before

I've been searching for the last hour or so but nothing has come up yet. If I have to delete the games n download them again I guess that's not a problem but i'd be interested to know why Steam can't see the games in the folders anymore since the update.

Before you start removing games I would restart steam, restart your computer.. wait for a while to see if it's a steam problem.. anything. Because re-downloading all those games will be a pain.

Yea think i'll do that. Recently I had my internet speed capped during peak hours due to going over my monthly download limit of 100gb (I'm not sure how I managed that tbh) so if I download all the Steam games again i'll probably get capped to 1mb...again -.-

You shouldn't have to re-download them. I'm pretty sure that when you go to download a Steam game, it will first check to see what, if any, of the files are already on the system. Once you click download, it should see the files already there and just re-acknowledge that it's already installed.

That's what I had hoped would happen but it downloads the whole thing again without uninstalling the previous one. Steam really does think the games aren't installed but when I go to the folder they clearly are.
