I usually take these 2 weeks off from work but since I'm currently without work....
Funny how England just blows off the USA and doesn't even consider them worthy. That's the same attitude you guys seem to go into every world cup and so far it's meant failure in all but 1966 which, by the way, was nearly half a century ago. And I believe it was in 1950 that the USA was scoffed at by England and guess who won that one?
I'm not saying the USA is on level with England because they aren't. But the English seem to always underestimate, whether it's soccer or war, when it comes to the Yanks, when we pull together as a team, we are greater than the sum of our parts.
Best beware....

Im just sayin'
I think we can beat England, but I dont think we have a chance at the title. Italy, Brazil, or Argentina will take it.

No we don't really have a great shot at winning...
But look at us since 1990, we made the world cup that year and we weren't good.. over the past 20 years our team has improved a great deal to the point where we can beat anyone on any given day. Taking out Spain and going up 2-0 on Brazil only to lose 3-2 for the FIFA Confederations Cup. Getting screwed out of a World Cup Semi-Final by that German hand ball on the line in 2002... if we can bring our A game, we should definitely make the 2nd round and then who knows.
BTW, I expect Brazil to win just about any tournament they are in.

You know the commentators had it all wrong...
Besides the first few minutes where the USA gave up a stupid goal, they controlled the time of possession and played confident. Obviously the goal we scored was a gift however. Then in the 2nd half, around minute 65 England kept the ball WAY too much. It wasn't until after those 20 minutes they decided to show us time of possession and it was 52% England to 48% USA. We actually kept the ball more than them in the first half and as I said, looked confident on the ball. Then 2nd part of the 2nd half we started looking like the usual USA teams, not being able to keep the ball and having to counter attack vs the best teams. I guess Lalas is used to seeing that crappy soccer and therefore thought we looked better in the 2nd half. Wrong.
Rooney barely got any touches so at least that part of our defense looked good, however we need to lose the mental lapses and have our heads in the game from the START. We need to get Donovan more involved and I would of liked to see Buddle about 10 minutes before we did. Bradley had a CRAP 2nd half but I'm always riding his ace cause he's either hot or cold. Altidore did little until that run that almost won us the game. In that instant he used his gifts, speed, power and almost won the day.

The English also made up the term "soccer", so really, you have no one but yourself to blame for that term if you don't like it.

Besides, the one league in the world that brings in more money and gets more people to the stadiums than the EPL is the NFL and that is 'football' here. So, we can't really have two different sports called 'football'.
